COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's lacrosse team kicked off its 2025 season with a 9-5 win over No. 15 Denver Sunday in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. Denver is now 0-2 on the year.

The Short Story
The Buckeyes jumped out to a 2-0 lead and never trailed in the game. Ohio State led 3-2 after the opening quarter. Denver tied the game early in the second but a three-goal Buckeye run gave Ohio State a 6-3 lead with 11:45 left in the second quarter. Denver stopped Ohio State's run at 9:52, but that was the final goal of the first half and Ohio State carried a 6-4 lead into halftime. The Buckeyes tallied the only two goals of the third and the first goal of the fourth for a 9-4 advantage. A goal with 5:21 left was the first for the Pioneers in 34:31 and was the final tally of the game.

Zoe Coleman led the Buckeyes with a career-high four goals and Annie Hargraves scored twice. Brynn Ammerman posted two assists and Makena Harrington had a two-point day with a goal and an assist. Goalie Jocelyn Torres made 11 saves in the Buckeye cage and Kampbell Stone and Audrey Schoemer shared the Buckeye lead with four ground balls each.

How it Happened
- Buckeye junior Zoe Coleman scored three of the game's first four goals.
- She opened the scoring on a free position shot at 11:29 and then converted a pass from Brynn Ammerman at 9:30.
- After a Pioneer goal at 7:07, on a fast break Makena Harrington found Coleman for a score at 3:57 and a 3-1 Buckeye lead.
- A DU goal with 16 seconds left in the opening quarter made it a one-goal game through 15 minutes and the Pioneers tallied player-up 39 seconds into the second for a tie game (3-3).
- Ohio State responded with a three-goal run to take control.
- Kampbell Stone scored the go-ahead goal on the rebound of a free position shot at 13:47.
- Harrington followed with a player-up goal at 12:20 and less than a minute later Annie Hargraves converted a free position chance for a 6-3 Buckeye lead.
- Denver's Olivia Ripple ended the Buckeye run with 9:52 left, making the score 6-4. That was the last goal of the first half.
- The only goals in the third quarter were from the home team. Hargraves drove the cage and scored at 11:36, followed by a Leah Sax drive and score at 7:20.
