Ohio State opened the year with a win over Denver last week
The Basics
- The Ohio State women's lacrosse team will host Louisville at 10 a.m. Saturday in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.Â
- Admission and parking are free to all Buckeye women's lacrosse regular season home games.
- The game will be streamed on B1G+ and live statistics can be linked from OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
- The game vs. the Cardinals is part of a doubleheader, with the Buckeye men taking on Air Force at 2 p.m. (Tickets are needed for the men's game and can be purchased HERE.)
- Saturday, the Buckeyes are playing for the One Love Foundation, an organization dedicated to empowering young people with the tools and resources they need to see the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships and to bring lifesaving prevention education to their communities.
- After making 11 saves to backstop Ohio State to its season-opening win, junior goalie Jocelyn Torres was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.
- Torres, from Glenwood, Md., and the Buckeyes held No. 15 Denver to just five goals last Sunday.
- After three saves in the first half, she made four stops in both the third and fourth quarters.
- In all, the Buckeyes shut out the Pioneers for a stretch of nearly 35 minutes from the second through the fourth quarter en route to the 9-5 victory.
- Torres also had two ground balls in the victory.
- Ohio State is 7-4 all-time against Louisville. In Columbus, Ohio State is 4-0 against the Cardinals.
- This is the third year in a row the squads are facing off. The Buckeyes won on the road, 13-12 in overtime, in 2022 and posted a 16-6 victory at home in 2023. Louisville won on its home field, 22-10, last season.Â
- Louisville is 2-0 this year, with a 10-8 win over Denver last week and an 11-9 victory over Cincinnati Wednesday.
- Ohio State opened the campaign with a 9-5 victory over Denver last Sunday in Columbus.
- The Buckeyes jumped out to a 2-0 lead and never trailed in the game.
- Ohio State led 3-2 after the opening quarter. Denver tied the game early in the second but a three-goal Buckeye run gave Ohio State a 6-3 lead with 11:45 left in the second quarter. Denver stopped Ohio State's run at 9:52, but that was the final goal of the first half and Ohio State carried a 6-4 lead into halftime.
- The Buckeyes tallied the only two goals of the third and the first goal of the fourth for a 9-4 advantage. A goal with 5:21 left was the first for the Pioneers in 34:31 and was the final tally of the game.
- Zoe Coleman led the Buckeyes with a career-high four goals and Annie Hargraves scored twice. Brynn Ammerman posted two assists and Makena Harrington had a two-point day with a goal and an assist. Goalie Jocelyn Torres made 11 saves in the Buckeye cage and Kampbell Stone and Audrey Schoemer shared the Buckeye lead with four ground balls each.
- Leah Sax enters the game vs. Louisville on team high-eight-game goal (8) and point (14) streaks. Zoe Coleman has a point in each of her last seven games (7g, 10p) and a goal in three straight (7). Annie Hargraves moved her goal and point streaks to five with two goals last week and has nine goals in the stretch. Brynn Ammerman is on a four-game point streak (3g, 7a, 10p). Â
- Coleman's four goals vs. Denver marked a career high and her second career game with three or more tallies. In all, she has 10 multiple-goal outings as a Buckeye and has scored 33 goals in her 34-game career, adding 19 assists for 52 points.
- Ammerman opened the year with two assists in game one. Last season, she was first on the squad with 28 assists.
- Hargraves had 24 goals a season ago and opened the season with two vs. Denver. In her 35 games for the Scarlet and Gray, Hargraves has 39 goals and 40 points, along with 56 draw controls.
- In her Buckeye debut, sophomore transfer Makena Harrington had a goal and an assist vs. Denver. She notched six goals as a freshman at Florida in 2024.
- Defender Audrey Schoemer, who has started all 18 games of her collegiate career, had a career-high four ground balls vs. Denver.
- Sax had a career-high 29 goals and seven assists last year and opened 2025 with a tally vs. the Pioneers.
- In her collegiate debut, freshman Maddy Paz had a ground ball and a caused turnover for the Buckeyes.
- The Buckeyes will head to Nashville for a game vs. Vanderbilt Feb. 22.
- The Scarlet and Gray will then return home to host Akron at 3 p.m. Feb. 26 in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
