PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – Three Ohio State women's golfers shot under par in the second round of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge on Monday, and Kary Hollenbaugh is in second place.
Hollenbaugh fired her second straight round of 68 (-3) and is in second place with a two-round score of 136 (-6). She is just one stroke back from USC's Jasmine Koo, who sits in first place with a score of 135 (-7). Hollenbaugh birdied five holes on Monday. She is three-under on par 3s, which leads the field of 88 players. Her 10 birdies are tied for second-most.
Faith Choi jumped 24 spots up the leaderboard and is tied for 18th place after carding a 1-under 70 on Monday. She had four birdies in round two and has a 36-hole score of 144 (+2).
Nellie Ong also fired a one-under 70, moving 30 spots up the leaderboard to end round two tied for 25th place. Ong birdied four holes on Monday and has a two-round score of 145 (+3).
Mandy Song carded a 75 (+4) in round two and has a total score of 152 (+10). She is tied for 65th place and had three birdies during Monday's round.
Marina Joyce-Moreno shot 77 (+6) and is tied for 80th place with a 36-hole score of 157 (+15).
The Buckeyes are in eighth place. The team shot a one-under 283 in round two and enter Tuesday's final round with a score of 577 (+9). The Buckeyes' 112 pars is the sixth-most and Ohio State has 27 total birdies, which is eighth-most among the field of 16 teams.
Kavya Ajjarapu and Chloe Lam are competing as individuals. Ajjarapu shot 76 (+5) and has a total score of 155 (+13). She is tied for 74th place. Lam shot 80 (+9) on Monday and is in 87th place with a 36-hole score of 162 (+20).
The Therese Hession Regional Challenge wraps up with the third and final round on Tuesday, Feb. 4. There will be an 8:15 a.m. PT/11:15 a.m. ET shotgun start.
