COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's hockey team opens the next chapter of its 2024-25 season with the start of the postseason this weekend in Columbus.

The Buckeyes (25-6-3, 19-6-3 WCHA) host seven seed St. Thomas (9-23-2, 6-21-1 WCHA) in the best-of-three WCHA First Round starting Friday at the OSU Ice Rink. The teams will face off at 6 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, if needed. The series marks the first time these two teams will meet in the postseason.

The winner of the WCHA First Round advances to the 2025 WCHA Final Faceoff, this year being held at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minn. March 7-8. The semifinal games are 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 7 and the championship game is set for 3 p.m. Saturday, March 8.

Buckeyes in a Nutshell
- The Buckeyes' WCHA First Round matchup vs. the Tommies is part of a big hockey weekend on campus. In addition to the games at the OSU Ice Rink, the men's hockey team hosts rival Michigan Thursday and Friday at Value City Arena and the Blue Jackets host the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL Stadium Series at Ohio Stadium on Saturday. Fans attending the women's hockey game Saturday are encouraged to arrive early and park in the Lane Avenue Garage.
- Ohio State finished the regular season second in the WCHA with a record of 19-6-3 to earn the matchup against St. Thomas. The other matchups in the first round are No. 8 Bemidji State at No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 6 Minnesota State at No. 3 Minnesota and No. 5 St. Cloud State at No. 4 Minnesota Duluth.
- Freshman defender Mira Jungåker picked up the final WCHA Rookie of the Week award of the season following her performance in the team's sweep of St. Cloud State. She tied for the team lead with three assists and three blocked shots and helped hold the Huskies to just 32 shots on the weekend. She assisted both of the Buckeyes' power play goals in game one and was the primary assist on the game-winning goal in game two. Her two-point performance in game one was her fourth multi-point game of her 14-game career.
- Joy Dunne paces the Buckeyes with a career-high 47 points on the year. Her 26 assists are a team high. She is in the top 15 nationally in assists per game (.76), goals per game (.62) and points per game (1.38). The sophomore has a point in 13 of the last 14 games for the Buckeyes.
- Jocelyn Amos has scored a team-high 24 goals on the year. She is on a five-game point streak and has seven goals three assists in the stretch. The Ailsa Craig, Ont. native joins Dunne in the top 15 in goals per game (.71) and points per game (1.29).
- Amos' team-best nine power play goals on the year lead the league and rank third in the country. She has accounted for a third of the team's power play goals (27), The team is sixth in the country in the category. Ohio State's power play ranks seventh with a .262 conversion rate. In the last month, the team has seen improved success on the player-advantage, converting at a rate of .348 in the last month.
- The Buckeyes' offense is second nationally with 131 goals, 219 assists and 350 points.
- Seventeen of the team's 18 skaters, and two of four goalies, have recorded a point this year. Sixteen of the 17 have recorded a goal. The Buckeyes are second in the country with 3.85 goals per game.
- The team has four players - Dunne, Amos, Jenna Buglioni (40) and Kiara Zanon (32) - who have hit the 30-point mark this year.
- In addition to Dunne and Amos, Riley Brengman (17), Emma Peschel (29) and Sara Swiderski (11) have recorded season-high point totals.
- The Buckeyes only allow their opponents to 18.38 shots per game. Brengman and Peschel both have a team-high 33 blocked shots this season.
- Graduate goaltender Amanda Thiele leads the goaltending unit with 22 starts in 23 games played this season for Ohio State. She has a 16-5-2 record on the year and has earned a .886 save percentage.
- Head coach Nadine Muzerall became Ohio State's all-time winningest coach this season. She has amassed a 220-79-22 record in nine seasons as the Buckeyes' head coach.
- Ohio State is 16-0-0 against St. Thomas in the all-time series.
- The Buckeyes were the Tommies' first opponent after their jump to Division I ahead of the 2021-22 season.
- In the teams' meeting earlier this month in Columbus, Ohio State earned five of six conference points with a 5-4 overtime win in game one and a 5-1 game two victory.
