Buckeyes In a Nutshell
- Ohio State enters this weekend with a 5-3-1 overall record and heads back to Florida for the second time in as many weeks; last weekend, the Buckeyes were one of 16 teams to compete at the Clearwater Invitational.
- The Buckeyes were originally scheduled to compete this weekend at Evansville's home tournament in Evansville, Ind. but that event was cancelled due to snow and cold temperatures forecasted for the weekend.
- The highlight of Ohio State's weekend in Clearwater was a 7-2 victory over No. 16 Missouri, which was keyed by a complete game effort from Kennedy Kay in the circle and a six-run fourth inning at the plate.
- Through nine games, three starters are batting .400 or better: Kami Kortokrax (.448), Jasmyn Burns (.444) and Morgan Frye (.400). That trio has also combined to drive in 17 runs.
- Kortokrax surpassed 500 career at-bats last weekend and is just two RBI shy of 100. She has a team-best 13 hits in 2025.
- Burns, who played in her 60th career games last weekend, is just four RBI away from reaching 50 in her young career.
- Sophomore Hadley Parisien had an impressive trip to Clearwater, batting .375 on the weekend with six hits, including leadoff home runs in back-to-back games against Alabama and Clemson.
- The hottest hitter last weekend was sophomore Sami Bewick, who batted .538 in five games with three extra base hits and three RBI. Her two-run triple vs. Missouri jump-started Ohio State's six-run inning.
- Senior Reagan Milliken continues to be one of the most consistent Ohio State hitters, batting .360 in the 2025 season thus far with nine hits, seven RBI and a slugging percentage of .560.
- Freshman Lorin Boutte leads the team in every pitching category, including wins (three), strikeouts (32) and innings pitched (21.1). Last weekend, Boutte, Kay and freshman Layna Gerhard all earned starting assignments in the circle.
Scouting the Competition
- Cornell will be opening its 2025 season this weekend in Madeira Beach. The Big Red were picked to finish seventh in the Ivy League preseason poll and are coached by Julie Farlow. Friday's game will be the first-ever between Ohio State and Cornell.
- Siena is 5-0 on the season and is the defending champions of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Saints have scored 36 runs in wins over Georgetown (twice), Charleston Southern (twice) and Bellarmine.
- Like Siena, North Florida enters this weekend's games on a winning streak. The Ospreys are 10-3 overall and have won four consecutive games. This will be the fifth meeting between North Florida and Ohio State, with the last meeting coming on February 9, 2019, a 3-0 Ohio State victory.
