Buckeyes Medal in 800 Free Relay, Swim Two NCAA A Cuts on Day One of B1G Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 14 Ohio State women's swimming and diving team won silver in the 800 free relay on Wednesday at the first day of the Big Ten Championships.
The Buckeyes placed fifth in the 200 medley relay to open the meet, with the team of Nyah Funderburke, Maria Ramos, Paige Hall and Teresa Ivan finishing in an NCAA A standard time of 1:35.28.
The 800 free relay was an exciting one for the Buckeyes, as they set a school record and swam an automatic NCAA qualifying time. The team of Sienna Angove, Erin Little, Mila Nikanorov and Rachel Bockrath finished in 6:54.53 to place second. They bested the previous school record of 6:58.17 set in 2022 by almost four seconds.
The Buckeyes are tied for third place with USC after the first day of competition with 106 points. They are two points behind second-place Indiana (108) and 22 points behind first-place Michigan (128).
The Big Ten Championships at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion continue Feb. 20-22. Prelims will begin at 10:00 a.m. each day and finals will begin at 5:00 p.m.
