
Ohio State Takes Game One Against Minnesota State, 5-2

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 3 Ohio State women's hockey team improved to 10-1-0 on the year with a 5-2 win over Minnesota State Friday night at the OSU Ice Rink.
The Short Story
The Buckeyes (10-1-0, 8-1-0 WCHA) started the series with a goal on their first offensive zone possession and didn't let up from there. The team scored in the first minute of both the first and second periods and a three-goal third period continued the team's second period scoring success.
In goal for Ohio State, freshman goaltender Taylor Kressin made 19 saves against the Mavericks (6-6-1, 2-6-1 WCHA) for the win.
Four players lit the lamp and seven recorded a point as the Buckeyes scored five goals for the sixth time this season.

- The Buckeyes scored on their first trip to the Minnesota State zone with Emma Peschel lighting the lamp just 13 seconds into the game.
- The Mavericks tied the game at 5:51, but Sloane Matthews put Ohio State back in front at 14:44.
- The Buckeyes held Mankato to just four shots on goal in the first frame with Kressin making three saves.
- Ohio State started the second period with another quick goal as Hilda Svensson tallied her eighth goal of the year just 33 seconds in. The freshman forward added another goal at 10:19 to put the Buckeyes up, 4-1.
- Sanni Vanhanen tallied the Buckeyes' third of the period at 12:58, her third goal in as many games.
- Kressin held the Mavericks scoreless in the middle frame, making 12 saves.
- Minnesota State recorded the lone goal of the third with a power play goal at 5:17 for the final 5-2 score in favor of the Buckeyes.
- Sara Swiderski assisted the first, third and fifth goal of the game for a career-high three assist and three-point game. Her three points were a team high.
- Svensson has recorded a point in five straight games for the Buckeyes. Her two-goal performance is her third multi-goal game of the year.
- In her first game since Oct. 19, Jocelyn Amos tallied two assists for her second multi-point game of the season.
- Kressin earned her fourth straight win since starting her first career game Oct. 25 against St. Cloud State.
