Buckeyes Sweep Mavericks With 7-3 Saturday Win

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 3 Ohio State women's hockey team downed Minnesota State, 7-3, Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink for the conference sweep of the Mavericks.
The Short Story
The Buckeyes (11-1-0, 9-1-0 WCHA) picked up their fifth sweep of the season and fifth straight win Saturday against the Mavericks (6-7-1, 2-7-1 WCHA).
Eleven skaters recorded a point in the win with Sara Swiderski, Emma Peschel, Hilda Svensson, Joy Dunne, Jocelyn Amos and Sanni Vanhanen tallying multiple points on the day.
The Buckeyes scored twice in the first, three times in the second and twice again in third for the seven-goal game.

How it Happened
- Dunne tallied the Buckeyes' first goal of the day, her first of the weekend, 2:26 into the game.
- The Mavericks tied the game at 10:09 but Ohio State was quick to respond with a goal from Sara Swiderski at 10:46.
- Swiderski's goal was the first of four unanswered goals by the Buckeyes. Emma Peschel recorded the first goal of the second period at 3:02 and Jocelyn Amos scored 25 seconds later to put the Buckeyes ahead by three. The third goal of the period was scored by Maxine Cimoroni, her first goal scored on home ice and third of the season.
- Hailey MacLeod made four saves in the period to hold the Mavericks scoreless in the middle frame.
- Minnesota State scored twice in the first minute and a half of the third stanza to pull within two of Ohio State, but goals from Jordan Baxter (10:27) and Sloane Matthews (15:27) gave the Buckeyes the 7-3 final score.
- For the second consecutive game, Swiderski recorded a career-high three points. She finished the game with a goal and two assists.
- Baxter's third period goal was her first of the season and seventh of her career.
- MacLeod finished the day with 20 saves for her seventh win of the season.
