Ong Shines on International Stage, Ties for Fifth at World Amateur Team Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State sophomore Nellie Ong took the international stage at the 2025 World Amateur Team Championship in Singapore, competing at Tanah Merah Country Club as a member of Team England. The prestigious event featured 36 women's teams from across the globe, showcasing the top amateur golfers in the world.
Ong put together a standout individual performance, tying for fifth overall after posting rounds of 69-69-74-69. She recorded five birdies in each of the first, third, and final rounds. Ong capped off the tournament with an eagle on the final hole of the final round to close with a 69, securing her top-five finish.
Her efforts proved pivotal for Team England, which tied for fourth place among the 36 competing nations. Ong's performance marked one of the strongest international showings of her young career and underscored her growing presence in the amateur golf world.
Ong continues to be a key contributor for the Ohio State women's golf team, building on a successful collegiate career that includes multiple top-ten finishes and consistent play in national and international events.
