This was Sabo’s best finish of his collegiate career
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior Tyler Sabo fired a final round 70 and finished runner-up at the Moraine Intercollegiate this week at Moraine Country Club. This was Sabo’s best finish of his collegiate career, and it was the first time in which he carded three under-par rounds at the same event.
The Ashland, Ohio native opened his tournament on Monday morning by making birdie on his first two holes. He then capped his opening day with a birdie-eagle finish and would card a pair of 3-under 68s in the first two rounds. On Tuesday, he started with a bogey on his opening hole but would again finish strong with a pair of birdies and a 1-under 70. That left him just two shots back at 7-under par, the lowest 54-hole event of his career.
Sophomore Vaughn Harber also posted a pair of under-par rounds on Monday, carding a 70 and 68, but would finish with a 74 on Tuesday. He was 1-under par for the 54 holes and was tied for 24th.
Joe Wilson IV had a rough opening round but bounced back nicely with the lowest round of the week by a Buckeye, a bogey-free 67, in the second round. He then carded a 73 in Tuesday’s final round to finish 46th at 5-over par.
Freshmen Giedrius Mackelis and Finley Bartlett each carded rounds of 77 on Tuesday and would tie for 55th at 7-over par. Jaime Yzaga joined Bartlett in making his collegiate debut this week and he would carded his lowest round of the tournament on Tuesday, finishing with a 1-over 73.
This was the final team event for the Buckeyes who will be off until Feb. 9, 2026, when they will resume at the Puerto Rico Classic.
