Buckeye Women Have Eight Move Onto NCAA Quarterfinals

The Buckeyes battled through weather delays on Thursday in the first day of NCAA East First Round women’s competition.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team began the women's competition at the 2024 NCAA East First Round on Thursday. Among the six track events that the Buckeyes competed in the first round of today, Ohio State will send athletes to the quarterfinals in all six events.

The Buckeye men compete at the 2024 NCAA East First Round again on Friday, beginning with discus at 1 p.m. The women's pole vault will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday after being postponed due to the weather.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team began the women's competition at the 2024 NCAA East First Round on Thursday. Among the six track events that the Buckeyes competed in the first round of today, Ohio State will send athletes to the quarterfinals in all six events.

RESULTS
- 100m: Two Buckeyes qualified for the 100m quarterfinals as Leah Bertrand matched her season-best (11.16) to finish seventh overall. Nya Bussey also qualified with a time of 11.34 to finish third in her heat. Fatouma Conde rounded out the Buckeyes' entries (11.49).
- 800m: Aniya Mosley finished second in her heat and 10th overall as her time (2:04.24) was just 0.03 off her personal-best.
- 100m hurdles: Both Marcia Sey and Janela Spencer qualified for Saturday's quarterfinals. Sey ran a personal-best time of 13.09 to finish third in her heat and grab an automatic qualifying spot, while Spencer's 13.37 got her through to the next round.
- 400m hurdles: Chanler Robinson's PR (57.17) was good for second in her heat to earn an automatic qualifier to the quarterfinals and improve her standing in fourth in program history.
- 400m: Bryannia Murphy advanced to Saturday's quarterfinals by finishing third in her heat (53.01).
- 200m: Conde qualified for the quarterfinals based on her time (23.29), while Bertrand's time (23.39) was just 0.03 shy of the final qualifying spot.
- Hammer throw: Lacey Stringer's best mark was 56.76m / 186'3".
- Shot put: In her second event of the day, Stringer's best throw went for 15.97m / 52'4.75".
- 10000m: Andrea Kuhn (33:37.22) and Daniella Santos (34:07.22) ended the day's competition in the 10000m.
