
Buckeyes Continue Homestand with Series vs. Maryland

Ohio State hosts the Terrapins Friday through Sunday
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team's nine-game homestand continues this weekend when they welcome the Maryland Terrapins to Buckeye Field for a three-game series that will begin Friday evening. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
Following Friday's game, the series will conclude with a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday and then the finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games will be streamed live on BTN+ and live stats are available on the schedule page at OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
Talkin' Tickets
Single game tickets are available with prices ranging from $4-$8 before fees. Seating at Buckeye Field is general admission. A limited number of student tickets will be available for free at each game with a BuckID on a first come, first served basis. Children under two years old and younger will be admitted free but must sit on an adult's lap.

Basics on the Buckeyes
- Ohio State (24-17 overall, 5-9 Big Ten) brings a four-game winning streak into this weekend's series thanks to a 3-2 triumph over Pitt in the Buckeyes' final midweek contest of the 2024 season.
- The Buckeyes' bats have been hot lately, as Ohio State's .306 team batting average is among the best in the Big Ten. Five everyday starters are hitting .300 or better for the season.
- Ohio State has also hit 49 home runs, with three players (Kami Kortokrax, Jasmyn Burns and Sam Hackenbracht) tied for the team lead with eight. Seven players have four or more homers.
- The Buckeyes also rank in the top five in the Big Ten in total runs scored (252), run scored per game (6.1), on-base percentage (.364) and slugging percentage (.501).
- In the circle, Allison Smith is the team leader in innings pitched (117.2), strikeouts (105), ERA (2.62) and wins (14). On Wednesday night, she also recorded her second save of the season.
- Senior Emily Ruck has won two games this week to improve her record to 7-4. She is second on the team in total innings (69.2).
- Ohio State's current four-game winning streak is the third-longest active streak in the Big Ten, behind only first-place Northwestern (eight consecutive wins) and second-place Michigan (six consecutive wins).
Scouting Maryland
- Maryland brings an 18-24 record and 4-10 mark in Big Ten into this weekend's series. It defeated UMBC on Wednesday evening, 14-1.
- The Terrapins have one of the Big Ten's top pitchers in senior Courtney Wyche, who leads the conference with 174 strikeouts in 129.0 innings. She's 10-10 on the season with a 2.88 ERA and .170 batting average against.
- Jaeda McFarland's .355 batting average in tops on the team and the leading run producer is Diamond Williams, who has 13 home runs and 37 RBI.
The Ohio State/Maryland Series
- Ohio State and Maryland have not played since the final series of the 2022 regular season, which was limited to just two games due to rain in College Park, Md. The Buckeyes took both games, winning 6-0 and 8-5.
- This weekend will mark Maryland's first trip to Columbus since the 2021 Big Ten-only season. Ohio State won three of four games in that series.
- The Buckeyes are 18-3 against Maryland since the Terrapins joined the Big Ten beginning in 2015 and 9-1 in games played at Buckeye Field.
