
Ohio State, Penn State Square Off In Midweek Doubleheader Tomorrow

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team is returning home, and also staying for a while. That's because the Buckeyes begin a nine-game homestand tomorrow when they host Penn State for their annual Big Ten midweek doubleheader to begin a nine-game homestand that extends through next weekend.
First pitch between Ohio State and Penn State is set for 4 p.m. BTN+ will stream both games (subscription required) and live stats will be available on the schedule page of OhioStateBuckeyes.com. The second game of Wednesday's doubleheader will begin approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first game.
Single game tickets are available with prices ranging from $4-$8 before fees. Seating at Buckeye Field is general admission. A limited number of student tickets will be available for free at each game with a BuckID on a first come, first served basis. Children under two years old and younger will be admitted free but must sit on an adult's lap.

Basics on the Buckeyes
- Ohio State returns home following a 9-5 victory in the third and finale game of last weekend's series at Wisconsin, which was keyed by a six-run fifth inning in which the Buckeyes turned a 4-3 deficit into a 9-4 lead.
- Tegan Cortelletti continues to lead the team in batting, as her .432 average as the team's leadoff hitter ranks among the top five in the conference.
- The Buckeyes' No. 2 hitter, Taylor Heckman, is batting at a .359 clip and last week hit .545 in four games with a pair of doubles and two RBI.
- McKenzie Bump pushed her average to .330 on the season by collecting a team-high seven hits last week with a home run, two RBI and a .615 on-base percentage.
- Ohio State's RBI leader in freshman Jasmyn Burns, who has driven in 33 runs so far this season to go along with her .293 batting average. On Sunday, she had a double and a home run.
- The Buckeyes are batting .304 as a team and ranks in the top three in the Big Ten in batting average, slugging percentage, home runs and on-base percentage.
- Senior Allison Smith won two games last week and improved her record to 13-9 on the season with a 2.72 ERA. She also has a team-best 96 strikeouts.
- After Smith, Emily Ruck has gotten the most work this season with 58.1 innings pitched and five wins to her credit.
- Sunday's game at Wisconsin marked Ohio State's 33rd contest – out of 38 this season – away from home.
The Ohio State/Penn State Series
- Ohio State and Penn State have been midweek doubleheader partners since 2014. In that time, they've played each other 20 times with the Buckeyes holding a 15-5 edge in those matchups.
- The one exception was in the Big Ten-only season of 2021 when Ohio State and Penn State played three times in State College April 3-4.
- The home team is 11-5 on the last eight midweek doubleheaders between the two teams.
- Last year in State College, Ohio State won both games against Penn State, taking the first contest, 9-5, and the second, 4-1.

- Penn State is 30-9 this season and its 9-3 record in the Big Ten is the conference's second-best record.
