COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 8 Ohio State (15-5, 8-2 MIVA) returns to Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association action with a home battle against No. 13 Ball State (14-7, 7-1) Thursday before a road trip to take on Purdue Fort Wayne (9-9, 3-6) Saturday. Both matches start at 7 p.m. with the home game against the Cardinals available on B1G+ and the road match against the Mastodons streamed on ESPN+.

Ohio State began a stretch of five-consecutive matches vs. Top 15 teams in Columbus vs. No. 14 Lewis (W, 3-0) and No. 13 Loyola Chicago (L, 2-3).
Last weekend, No. 12 USC fell to the Buckeyes in Los Angeles (3-1) before No. UCLA took down Ohio State 3-0.
The Buckeyes then faced No. 12 USC (W, 3-1) and No. 4 UCLA (L, 0-3) last weekend in Los Angeles at the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge.
Ohio State owns a 103-92 record over the No. 13 Ball State Cardinals. The Buckeyes are 57-38 at home in the series. Against the Mastodons, Ohio State is 86-42 after a 3-2 win earlier this season in Columbus. The Buckeyes are 30-27 in Fort Wayne.
A year ago, Ohio State and Ball State battled for the MIVA Tournament title in Muncie, Indiana. The Buckeyes prevailed 3-1 to win the conference tournament crown. During the 2023 regular season, Ball State won at home 3-0 before Ohio State claimed a 3-2 win in Columbus, a match that started a 12-match win streak for the Buckeyes.
In Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play, Ohio State's defense is holding opponents to 10.08 kills per sent to lead the league. The Buckeyes are also leading the league in aces with 74. He is second nationally.
Individually, Cole Young leads the conference in all matches in hitting at .436.
Redshirt freshman Daniel Hurley had seven aces, including three-consecutive after a kill in Set 1 and then four-consecutive in Set 2 against Purdue Fort Wayne Feb. 20. The total is the most for a Buckeye in a match since Michael Wright had six at Ball State (April 22, 2023).
Pasteur tied Hurley with seven aces against Lewis Feb. 29.
Hurley and Pasteur are the first Buckeyes to record seven aces in a match since Christian Franceschi against Ball State (4/8/11). The seven aces ties for third-most at Ohio State in a match.
