No. 6 Ohio State Earns Road Sweep at No. 14 Lewis

The Buckeyes swept the Flyers and won by scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-23.
Jacob Pasteur led both teams with 17 kills. He also added four aces to lead both teams. Noah Platfoot had 30 assists off the bench for the Buckeyes while Thomas Poole led the way with eight digs.
How it Happened
Set 1
Lewis opened with a quick 4-1 lead. The Buckeyes used a 5-2 run to tie it at 6-all behind three early kills by Jacob Pasteur. A Shane Wetzel ace put Ohio State in the lead at 10-9 but the set remained tight until the Buckeyes took a 15-13 advantage with a 3-0 run. Lewis called timeout after the Buckeyes went up 18-15 on a Cole Young kill from the middle. Pasteur gave the Buckeyes a four-point cushion with his fifth kill of the set to make it 19-15. Ben Putnam and Wetzel went back-to-back with kills before the Flyers called their final timeout of the set with the Buckeyes in the lead, 21-16. Putnam put one away for a 23-18 lead before a Justin Howard kill from the middle led to set point at 24-18. The Flyers scored the next two before Pasteur got the set winner for a 25-20 win for the Buckeyes. Ohio State hit .542 in the opener with Pasteur leading the way with seven kills on eight swings and no errors.

Set 2
Pasteur and Young combined for a block to get the Buckeyes out to 1-0 lead. Consecutive Pasteur aces gave Ohio State a 6-4 lead. The Buckeyes maintained a slim lead until a 4-0 Ohio State run gave the Buckeyes a 14-10 advantage. Lewis called timeout after Pasteur's ninth kill of the match. A Wetzel kill and a big triple block by the Buckeyes put Ohio State up 16-11. Pasteur's 10 kill of the match followed by a Lewis error built the lead to 18-11 Buckeyes. Lewis called its final timeout of the set and scored the next two points to cut it to 18-13 Ohio State. Young and Putnam combined for a block for a 20-14 lead. The Buckeyes called timeout after Lewis used a 3-0 run to cut Ohio State's lead to 20-17. The Flyers scored out of the timeout before committing an error for a 21-18 Ohio State edge. Noah Platfoot and Howard combined for a block before a Lewis error made it 23-18 Buckeyes. A Flyers service error led to set point at 24-20 before Ohio State got the win, 25-21, on a foot fault by Lewis. The Buckeyes hit .333 in the second and owned a .444-.216 hitting edge overall in building a 2-0 lead.

Set 3
Three early Pasteur kills helped the Buckeyes to a 4-all tie before a Pasteur ace put Ohio State up 5-4. Putnam added a kill and a Flyers attack error make it 7-4 Ohio State. Lewis scored the next four points for an 8-7 Flyer lead. Putnam ended the run with a kill from the left side. Young put Ohio State back in the lead, 9-8, after putting down an overpass in the middle. Lewis called timeout after back-to-back Ohio State blocks put the Buckeyes up 11-8. The Flyers tied it at 12-all after a 4-1 run. A backrow Pasteur kill put Ohio State back on top. A Platfoot kill made it 14-12 Buckeyes. Consecutive Pasteur kills increased the lead to 17-14 Buckeyes. Lewis stayed close before evening the set at 20-all. With the score tied at 23-all, Ohio State called timeout. A Howard kill led to match point before a Lewis timeout. With Pasteur back to serve out of the timeout, he delivered an ace for the 25-23 set win and the 3-0 victory in the match.
