The Buckeyes face the Flyers at 8 p.m. Wednesday before traveling to Chicago to take on the Ramblers at 8 p.m. Friday. Â

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 6 Ohio State (7-2, 1-0) hits the road for the first time in Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association matches this week at No. 14 Lewis (7-3, 2-0) and No. 13 Loyola Chicago (5-6, 0-1). The Buckeyes face the Flyers at 8 p.m. Wednesday before traveling to Chicago to take on the Ramblers at 8 p.m. Friday. Â
- In the series with Lewis, each team owns 33 victories. The Buckeyes are 12-17 in Romeoville. Ohio State took both matches a year ago by 3-0 scores, including the road contest March 30, 2023.Â
- Against the Ramblers, Ohio State has a 43-27 record in the series with a 12-19 Â record in Chicago. Each team earned 3-0 home sweeps last season. Â Â
- Ohio State moved to the No. 1 spot in the weekly AVCA Coaches Poll Jan. 22. It was the first time in the top spot for the Buckeyes since Jan. 8, 2018. Ohio State started the season at No. 5 in the 2024 preseason and moved the No. 4 spot following four-consecutive wins to start the season.
- As the top-ranked squad this year, Ohio State is 0-2 after a pair of losses to No. 9 Penn State (3-1, 3-2). The Buckeyes are No. 6 in the current AVCA poll (Jan. 29). Â
- In the first match against the Nittany Lions this year, redshirt freshman Daniel Hurley filled in for All-American Jacob Pasteur, who was out with injury. Hurley responded with career highs in kills (16), attacks (33) and digs (9).Â
- Then-No. 4 Ohio State earned a pair of 3-2 wins at the First Point Collegiate Challenge in Austin, Texas. The Buckeyes knocked off then-No. 1 UCLA and then went the distance against No. 13 USC. Ohio State fell behind 0-2 against the Bruins before winning the final three sets. Against the Trojans, the Buckeyes won the two opening sets before USC tied the match at 2-all. The deciding fifth-set went to the Buckeyes, 15-12.
- Jacob Pasteur was named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Offensive Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week (Jan. 23) after leading the Buckeyes with 36 kills, 23 against No. 1 UCLA.Â
- Ohio State finished the 2023 season with a 12-1 record and have now won 19 of the last 22 matches over the last two years. The Buckeyes have a record of 7-3 over ranked teams during that span.
- Against MIVA foes, Ohio State has won the last 11-consecutive matches, including a three-match sweep in the 2023 MIVA Tournament. Â
- Ohio State has won the last three matches over Top 20 California squads in five sets. Before traveling Texas, the Buckeyes defeated UC San Diego in Columbus, Jan. 13.
- UCLA, the defending national champion, and USC will host the Buckeyes in Los Angeles, California, later this season. Ohio State will face the Trojans March 8 followed by a rematch with the Bruins March 10.Â
- Ohio State owns wins over the No. 1 ranked team in each of the last two seasons. In addition to the win over No. 1 UCLA this year, the Buckeyes won at No. 1 Penn State last year (3-2) March 21, 2023. Â
- Pasteur reached 20 kills in consecutive matches to earn the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week Jan. 16. He finished the week with 43 kills while hitting .375 with four aces and 17 digs.Â
- Pasteur owns the No. 10(t) spot all-time at Ohio State with 1,237 career kills. Next up is No. 9 Chris Fash (1998-01) with 1,274.
- With four aces in the season opener vs. North Greenville, Pasteur eclipsed the 100 mark in career aces. He is now in the No. 5 spot all-time with 118. Robbie Klein (2006-09) is No. 4 with 122.Â
- Setter Michael Wright reached 2,000 assists for his career with a total of 58 against UC San Diego. He currently ranks No. 9 all-time with 2,219. Teammate Noah Platfoot is No. 11 with 1,863. Â Â
- The 57th season of Ohio State men's volleyball opened with a home win (3-0) over the North Greenville University Crusaders Jan. 3. The Buckeyes then earned 3-1 victories over both Daemen (Jan. 7) and St. Francis (Jan. 8).
