Buckeyes Set for Game at No. 9/10 Denver

The Basics
- The Ohio State women's lacrosse team closes out a stretch of three straight road games when it takes on Denver Friday.Â
- The Buckeyes and Pioneers will meet at 3 p.m. ET in Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver.Â

- Ohio State enters the game 4-0 after victories at Youngstown State and Akron last weekend. Denver is 1-1, starting the year with a win over Louisville before a loss at Michigan last weekend.Â
- Ohio State is 3-2 all-time vs. Denver, with the Pioneers winning the last two games.Â
- A Buckeye captured the first two B1G Freshman of the Week accolades, with Kampbell Stone and Kate Tyack both recognized.Â
- Ohio State is tied with Notre Dame for first nationally with a 4-0 record.Â
- Brynn Ammerman is 12th nationally in assists per game (3.0) and Jamie Lasda is 22nd in goals per outing (4.0). Ammerman leads Ohio State with 12 assists and 18 points and Lasda is first with 16 goals, ranking second with 16 points.Â
- After the game at Denver, three of the Buckeyes' next four games will be in Columbus, starting vs. Butler March 2. The Big Ten opener is at Michigan March 7 and Ohio State will then host Marquette March 12 and Maryland March 16.
- The Buckeyes have allowed just 21 goals through the first four games (5.25 per game). The squad has scored 17.75 goals per contest.Â
- The 2023 campaign is the second for the Buckeye lacrosse programs in their new home, Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.Â
- The Buckeyes posted road wins at Youngstown State, 17-9, and Akron, 18-3, last weekend.Â
- Brynn Ammerman led the team with eight assists and 10 points in the two games combined and Jamie Lasda was first with seven goals. Lilli Sherman was first with five ground balls and Ammerman was first with six caused turnovers. Â
- In all, 15 Buckeyes found the back of the cage and six had at least one assist.
- Combined, Ohio State had the edge in shots, 66-39, draw controls, 33-19, ground balls, 25-23, and caused turnovers, 22-13. Ohio State had 23 turnovers, with its opponents turning the ball over 32 times.Â
- Ohio State is 3-2 all-time against Denver, with the first three games from 1999-01.
- The teams first met in Columbus April 25, 1999, a 26-10 Ohio State victory. The next year, the Buckeyes won 19-5 on the road and in 2001 Denver came back to Columbus, with Ohio State posting a 16-3 victory.
- The squads resumed the series in 2022, with the Pioneers winning a game in Denver, 12-5. In Columbus last year, the Buckeyes fell 11-4.
- This is the first 4-0 start for the Buckeyes since 2015. The squad was 3-1 through its first four games each of the last two years.
- Kate Tyack was recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after posting four goals (two in each game) and five points, with two draw controls and a ground ball, in the Buckeyes' two road victories last week. Tyack has at least one goal in each of her first four collegiate games.
- Against Akron last Sunday, Brynn Ammerman had a career-high five assists and six points, passing the three helpers she had last Friday at Youngstown State. She had four points, matching her career best, in each of the first three games before the six points against Akron. Ammerman leads Ohio State with 12 assists and 18 points, tying for third with six goals, which are all career bests.
- Jamie Lasda has multiple goals in each of the first four games, including a five-goal day at Akron and six goals vs. Kent State. She is on a 10-game scoring streak with 27 goals, 12 assists and 39 points in the stretch and Lasda now has 80 goals, 43 assists and 123 points in her 46-game Buckeye career.Â
- Leah Sax has scored twice in each of the first four games this season. The senior entered the season with one goal and three games played in her first three seasons.Â
- Casey Roberts had her third career hat trick and added an assist for a four-point day at Akron, one shy of the five-point outing she had against Louisville last March. She has already matched the six assists she had in 17 games as a freshman last season.Â
- Against Akron, Zoe Coleman's three assists and four points were both a career best. It was her first career game with more than one helper and her second game with more than two points.
- At Youngstown State last Friday, junior Mackenzie Fitzgerald, junior transfer Sophie Patton, sophomore Brooke Vinson and freshmen Gracie Shoup and Lexie Kupka all scored their first goals in the Scarlet and Gray.Â
- Ohio State is second nationally in draw control percentage (.697). Kampbell Stone is first with 13 draw controls, followed by Annie Hargraves with 10.
- Regan Alexander is second nationally in goals-against average (3.14) and ranks third in save percentage (.630). The Buckeye defense is third nationally, allowing 5.25 goals a game.Â
- On offense, Ohio State is averaging 17.75 goals a game to rank ninth. Â
- The next home game is March 2 vs. Butler. First draw is set for noon in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium and admission and parking are free.Â
