Buckeyes Set for Big Ten Championships, In Pursuit of Fifth Straight Title

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 8 Ohio State women's swimming and diving team is in pursuit of its fifth straight conference title as the team takes on the Big Ten Championships, hosted by Purdue, Feb. 21-24.

Meet Information

The 2024 Big Ten Championships will be held at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind.
Each session will be available to watch on BTN+.

Ohio State Meet Notes

The Buckeyes have won four straight Big Ten titles and Director of Swimming & Diving Bill Dorenkott has earned Big Ten Women's Swim Coach of the Year honors for the last four seasons.
Ohio State is second in Big Ten history with nine total team championships (1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) and Dorenkott has the second-most titles of any coach with seven total, including four at Ohio State.
At the 2023 Big Ten Championships, the Buckeyes won 11 events and set seven pool records at Michigan's Canham Natatorium.
All but one of Ohio State's student-athletes that earned Big Ten titles at last year's championships return in 2024.
Ohio State picked up four relay wins last season. The relay team of Nyah Funderburke, Hannah Bach, Katherine Zenick and Teresa Ivan won the 200 medley relay with a pool-record time of 1:33.95. The team of Funderburke, Bach, Zenick and Amy Fulmer set a pool record and earned a first-place finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:26.68.
Zenick, Funderburke, Ivan and Fulmer set a Big Ten Championships record, a pool record and an Ohio State program record in the 200 free relay, finishing in 1:26.70.
The team of Zenick, Catherine Russo, Ivan and Fulmer set a Big Ten Championships record and a pool record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:10.12.
Zenick led the Buckeyes with two individual titles, earning victories in the 50 free (21.85) and the 100 fly (51.48).
Josephine Panitz was a gold medalist in the 200 IM with a pool-record time of 1:54.96.
Hannah Bach's time of 58.19 in the 100 breast earned her a first-place finish.
Funderburke was victorious in the 100 back, touching the wall at 51.52.
Fulmer set a Big Ten Championships record and a pool record as she won the 100 free with a time of 47.02.
Ivan, Funderburke, Zenick, Panitz, Bach, Russo and Fulmer all earned First Team All-Big Ten honors and Morgan Kraus and Lena Hentschel earned Second Team All-Big Ten recognition.
Ohio State compiled a perfect 6-0 dual meet record during the regular season, earning wins against Virginia Tech, Akron, Denison, Hawaii, Michigan and Pitt. The Buckeyes were also the winners of the Ohio State Fall Invitational and the Tim Welsh Classic.
Bach has turned in an NCAA A cut time this season in the 100 breast and the Buckeyes have also turned in automatic NCAA qualifying times in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay.
Nineteen Buckeyes have recorded NCAA B cut times this season: Ivan (50 free, 100 free), Fulmer (50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 100 back, 200 back), Zenick (50 free, 100 free, 100 fly), Funderburke (50 free, 100 back), Maya Geringer (500 free, 1650 free), Liberty Gilbert (500 free, 200 back), Gwen Woodbury (500 free, 1650 free), Mia Rankin (500 free, 1650 free, 400 IM), Lucy Malys (500 free, 200 fly, 400 IM), Tristan Harrison (100 back, 100 fly), Paige Hall (100 back, 200 back, 200 fly, 200 IM), Kraus (100 back, 200 back, 100 fly), Krista Marlin (100 back, 200 back, 200 IM, 400 IM), Jessica Eden (200 back, 200 fly, 400 IM), Panitz (100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM), Reese Dehen (100 breast, 200 breast), Bach (200 breast), Russo (100 fly) and Kyra Sommerstad (200 fly, 400 IM).
Four divers have turned in NCAA Zones qualifying scores: Hentschel (1-meter, 3-meter, platform), Janie Boyle (1-meter, 3-meter, platform), Michelle Mazzara (1-meter, 3-meter) and Ciara McGing (platform).
