
Hollenbaugh, Ohio State Win Spartan Sun Coast Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kary Hollenbaugh earned her first collegiate victory as she and the Ohio State women's golf team won the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational on Monday.
Hollenbaugh fired an eight-under 136 over the two-round tournament. She shot a career-best 65 (-7) in the second round of play, tying the third-lowest round in program history. Among the field of 81 players, Hollenbaugh shot the best on par fours (3.80) and par fives (4.38). She also led the field in birdies with 12 over 36 holes and she also eagled the 14th hole in the second round.
The Buckeyes turned in a two-round score of 576 (E) to win the tournament, edging second-place College of Charleston by two strokes. In Monday's second round, the Buckeyes shot a team score of 285 (-3). Ohio State led the 15-team field in par four scoring (4.10) and par five scoring (4.73). The Buckeyes totaled 27 birdies and 115 pars over 36 holes of play.
Caley McGinty earned a top-five finish, firing a 142 (-2) over two rounds to finish tied for fourth place. She shot an even 72 on the second day of play. McGinty was tied for the most pars among the field with 28. She birdied five holes.
Faith Choi carded a 74 (+2) in the final round and finished the tournament with a total score of 147 (+3). She tied for 26th place. Choi was tied for the fourth-most pars with 25.
Jillian Bourdage shaved three strokes off her first-round score to shoot a 74 (+2) in the second round on Monday. She finished tied for 41st with an overall score of 151 (+7). Bourdage recorded 21 pars over two rounds.
Kailie Vongsaga finished tied for 45th place with a 36-hole score of 152 (+8). She carded a 75 (+3) in the second round. Vongsaga shot even par on 24 holes.
The Buckeyes compete next at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate March 4-6 at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
