COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's golf team completed the first round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C. on Monday.
Kary Hollenbaugh led the Buckeyes; she shot an even 71 and is tied for 21st place. Hollenbaugh shot even par on 14 holes and birdied two holes.
Caley McGinty carded a 72 (+1) and finished the day tied for 38th place. Emily Hummer, who is competing as an individual, also shot 72 (+1) and is tied for 38th place. McGinty and Hummer were among the players that scored best on par 5's among the field of 89 total players; both averaged 4.33 strokes and were minus-two overall on par 5's. Both also birdied three holes.
Jillian Bourdage is tied for 56th place after carding a 74 (+4) on the first 18 holes of play. She shot even par on 13 holes.
Kailie Vongsaga, who birdied two holes, shot 78 (+7) and is tied for 77th place and Faith Choi shot 80 (+9) and is tied for 84th place.
As a team, the Buckeyes are in 15th place, totaling a team score of 295 (+11) in the first round. The Buckeyes were minus-one on par 5 scoring, averaging 4.93 strokes.
The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate continues March 5-6. Buckeye tee times on Tuesday begin at 9:20 a.m. Live coverage of the tournament will be available to watch on Golf Channel and Peacock from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.
