COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 on the year with a 10-6 win over Bellarmine Tuesday evening at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.

The Short Story
Bellarmine scored first, but the 1-0 advantage was its only lead of the night. After tying the game at 1-1 at 8:49 in the first quarter, Ohio State did not trail for the remainder of the evening to come away with the win.

Leading the team on attack were Gannon Matthews, Ben Mayer and Ed Shean with three points against the Knights. Matthews and Shean each recorded a hat trick while Mayer scored two goals and added an assist.

On the defensive end, Ohio State caused 15 turnovers with Marcus Hudgins and Cullen Brown earning three each. Brown led the team with a career-high six ground balls in the game.

Caleb Fyock started his second consecutive game and made eight saves for the Buckeyes. Tommy Burke went 8-of-13 on the faceoff.

 How The Goals Were Scored
- After Bellarmine scored its first goal at 12:52 in the first quarter, the Buckeyes responded with five unanswered goals in the first half.
- Matthews scored at 8:49 to tie the game and Ben Mayer gave Ohio State its lead with less than a second to play in the first quarter.
- The Buckeyes added three goals in the second period, with Alex Marinier striking first at 9:36. A minute later, Matthews scored off an assist from Hudgins, who recorded his first point of the year and second of his Ohio State career.Â
- Ed Shean scored back-to-back goals, first at 2:04 in the second quarter and next at 13:37 in the third, to close the Buckeyes' six-goal scoring run.
- Bellarmine's Kyle Playsted halted the Buckeyes at 13:30 to bring the game to 6-2 in favor of the home team.
- Ohio State strung together another multi-goal scoring run, this time scoring four consecutive goals in the third quarter.
- Mayer added his second of the day at 9:44, followed by Shean and Matthews completing their hat tricks at 8:46 and 0:01, respectively.
- Marinier had his second consecutive multi-goal performance, scoring his second goal at 12:14 in the fourth quarter to bring Ohio State's total to 10 goals on the day.
- Bellarmine closed the game with four goals in the final five minutes, but Ohio State walked away with the 10-6 win.
