The Big Ten announced its end of season awards on Wednesday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its 2024 end of season awards on Wednesday, following the conclusion of the regular season. Graduate opposite Emily Londot was named to the All-Big Ten First Team, while freshman outside Emmi Sellman was named to the Big Ten All-Freshmen Team and Sydney Taylor was a Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree.
Â
Londot has played in 530 sets and 143 matches as a Buckeye over five seasons. She ranks second in program history in kills (2,228) and points (2,535.0), fifth in block assists (397), seventh in total blocks (422) and 10th in digs (1,275). She is only the second player in program history to reach 2,000 career kills, 2,000 career points and 1,000 career digs, doing so on Oct. 13, 2024. This season, Londot totaled at least 10 kills in every match and was the first non-setter in the country to record a triple double (15 kills, 11 digs and a career-high 10 blocks on Sept. 27 at USC). She wrapped up the regular season ranked fourth in the Big Ten with 4.36 kills/set (30th in the country), second with 510 total kills (15th in the country) and second with 5.09 points/set (21st in the country). Londot ranked among the top-20 in program history single-season records in all of those categories. Last week, Londot was selected in the second round by Omaha Supernovas with the 10th overall pick.
Â
This is the fourth time in Londot's career she's been named to the All-Big Ten First Team and fifth time as an All-Big Ten selection. She was named Big Ten Player of the Week twice this season (Sept. 16 and Nov. 25) and was also selected to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team. Londot was named to the Dayton Flyer Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Â
Sellman played the conference schedule after missing preseason training and the non-conference slate with an injury. She finished the season second on the team, only behind Londot, with 2.81 kills/set. Sellman also averaged 1.64 digs/set as she moved to playing six rotations once fully back from her injury and totaled 21 blocks and 16 aces on the season. On Oct. 18 against a top-five Penn State team, Sellman became the first Buckeye freshman since Audra Appold in 2015 to record 27 kills in a match. Sellman and Appold are the only two Buckeye freshmen since Stacey Gordon in 2001 to record that many kills in one match. Sellman totaled at least 10 kills in nine out of 20 matches and also recorded two matches with 10+ digs. Sellman was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Nov. 25.
Â
Taylor served as a team-elected captain for the third-consecutive season as a senior in 2024. She played in 52 sets and 14 matches this season, averaging 1.25 digs/set in 2024. Taylor twice recorded 10 or more digs in a match this season and totaled six aces this year. This is Taylor's first time receiving a Big Ten award. Â Â
