The Buckeyes had four record at least 10 kills apiece and three record at least 10 digs apiece in the team effort on Thursday night.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (2-3) wrapped up action in the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Challenge with a nail-biting five-set loss (21-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 12-15) against Oklahoma (3-0) in Norman on Thursday night.

Match Recap
Set 1

The first set began as a back-and-forth affair with each team grabbing an early lead and being tied at every point up to 8-8.
Oklahoma strung together three unanswered points and maintained a three-point lead at 14-11.
Ohio State responded with the next four points, capped by a block from Kalli Jioshvili-Ravva, to take the 15-14 advantage into the media timeout.
Each team again grabbed the lead out of the media timeout in a set that totaled 13 ties and six lead changes.
The Sooners used a 3-0 run to break the tie and take a 21-18 lead, eventually capturing the set win by a 25-21 margin.

Set 2

The Buckeyes battled back with a quick start to the second set, jumping out to an early 7-2 lead on a kill from Jioshvili-Ravva.
Oklahoma cut its deficit to two at 9-7 before a 4-0 Ohio State run gave the Buckeyes the 13-7 advantage.
Ohio State led by as many as seven points at 21-14 on a kill from Naomy Govou before a late Sooners push had the host team within one at 23-22, prompting a Buckeye timeout.
Alia Schoonover recorded a kill out of the timeout and the Buckeyes sealed a 25-23 set win on an Oklahoma service error to even the match.

Set 3

The third set was tight early before a 3-0 Buckeye run gave Ohio State the 8-5 lead on a service ace from Schoonover.
The Buckeyes held a narrow lead until four unanswered points by the Sooners gave Oklahoma a 16-14 lead out of the media timeout.
The teams traded points and Oklahoma led by a 24-21 margin late.
The Buckeyes fought off two Sooner set points before Oklahoma was able to seal a 25-23 set win.

Set 4

The teams were evenly matched at the beginning of the fourth set as neither team led by more than two before the media timeout.
Back-to-back kills from Schoonover gave the Buckeyes the narrow 15-14 advantage at the media timeout and they increased the lead to 17-14 on a kill from Govou and a service ace from Jioshvili-Ravva.
Oklahoma fought back to tie the set at 17, but Ohio State strung together a second 4-0 run to take a 22-18 lead on a service ace from Mia Tuman.
Ohio State captured a 25-22 set win after Oklahoma was able to cut the Buckeyes' lead to one twice down the stretch.

Set 5

Oklahoma opened the fifth set with the first two points and held narrow leads, but Ohio State tied the set at two, three, four, six and eight.
Three unanswered Sooner points gave the home team an 11-8 lead and while the Buckeyes battled, that lead would not be relinquished.
Ohio State trimmed its deficit to one at 12-11 on a service ace from Bella Humphrey.
Oklahoma sealed the marathon match with a 15-12 set win.

Buckeyes by the Numbers

The Buckeyes had four record at least 10 kills apiece for the second time this season with the first occurrence being the Northern Kentucky match this past Sunday.
Govou and Jioshvili-Ravva led the Buckeyes with 15 kills apiece with the total being Jioshvili-Ravva's season-high.
Alia Schoonover tied her career-high 11 kills, hitting a career-high .500 in the match.
Hannah Jones continued her consistent nature with 10 kills tonight as she's totaled at least 10 kills in each of the Buckeyes' first five matches this season.
On the defensive side of the ball, Emily Avshalomov has at least 10 digs in each of the first five matches this season. She finished with a team-high 13 digs tonight.
Mia Tuman earned her third double-double of the season with 45 assists and 11 digs.
Mia Stahler recorded a season-high 11 digs, her second 10+ dig performance of the season.
Lauren Wiese made her Scarlet & Gray debut, leading the team with five blocks.

The Buckeyes return to the Covelli Center to host the Sports Imports Classic next weekend with Southern Indiana, Youngstown State and Winthrop visiting Columbus. Ohio State's first match of the tournament is Friday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. against Winthrop.
