Hannah Jones led the Buckeyes with her second double-double of the season in Wednesday night’s match.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (2-2) opened the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Challenge with a loss in four sets (22-25, 25-17, 17-25, 22-25) against Ole Miss (3-1) in Norman, Okla. on Wednesday evening.

Set 1

Ole Miss used a 3-0 run to take an early 7-3 lead.
Ohio State battled back to tie the set at nine on a kill from Kalli Jioshvili-Ravva, but Ole Miss strung together four unanswered points to take a 15-12 advantage into the media timeout.
The Buckeyes took a 22-20 lead following back-to-back points.
Ole Miss scored the final five points to earn a 25-22 set win in an opening set featuring 10 ties and five lead changes.

Set 2

Ole Miss continued its momentum into the second set, taking an early 6-4 lead.
Ohio State used a 4-0 run, fueled by kills from Hannah Jones and Naomy Govou, to hop in front by an 11-8 margin and prompt an Ole Miss timeout.
The Buckeyes outscored Ole Miss by a 7-3 clip to increase their lead to 18-11 on an ace from Jones, forcing Ole Miss to use its second timeout of the set.
Jones' ninth kill of the match sealed a 25-17 set win for the Buckeyes to even the match.

Set 3

The third set began with the teams exchanging points and featured 10 ties by the time the teams were knotted at 11.
Ole Miss responded with a 6-0 run to take a 17-11 lead and didn't trail for the remainder of the set.
The Buckeyes battled back to within three, trailing 20-17 after four unanswered points capped by a kill from Jioshvili-Ravva.
Ole Miss wrapped up a 25-17 set win with the final five points.

Set 4

Ole Miss got off to a quick start in the fourth, leading 7-3 early.
Jones and Alia Schoonover teamed up for a block to get the Buckeyes within one at 9-8.
Ole Miss extended its lead to 15-11 before back-to-back Ohio State kills from Jioshvili-Ravva and Aneta Valentová trimmed the deficit in half.
Ole Miss responded with a 3-0 run to stretch its advantage to 18-13 and led again by five points at 22-17.
A 3-0 Buckeye run, capped by a solo block from Schoonover, got the Buckeyes within two at 22-0.
The teams traded points down the stretch and Ole Miss capped the match with a 25-22 set win.

Buckeyes by the Numbers

This is the third time in four matches that the Buckeye defense has forced their opponent to hit under .200 as Ole Miss hit .197 today.
Jones was the first Buckeye to record 10 kills in the match, doing so early in the third set and finishing with 15 in the match. She added 10 digs for her second double-double of the season. Jones has totaled at least 10 kills in each of the first four matches of the season.
Emily Avshalomov wrapped up the match with a team-high 11 digs to her name. She has recorded 10 or more digs in each of the Buckeyes' first four matches this season.
Valentová recorded eight kills, the most in her young Buckeye career. She also hit .400 – the highest among Buckeyes with at least five attacks.
