
Choi, Hollenbaugh Fire Rounds in the 60s as Buckeyes Tie for Fourth at Jim West Challenge

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's golf team wrapped up the fall season on Monday, with a phenomenal 10-under round of 278 to help the Buckeyes tie for fourth place at the Jim West Challenge. Faith Choi and Kary Hollenbaugh each shot in the 60s in round three and all five Buckeyes in the lineup shot under par in the final round.
The Buckeyes' third-round score of 278 (-10) is tied for the third-lowest round in program history. Their overall score of 849 (-15) is the fourth-lowest 54-hole score in program history. Ohio State shot three-under on par 4s, which was the third-best among the field of 12 teams. The Buckeyes shot an impressive 22-under on par 5s, which was tied for third-best. Their 161 pars were also tied for third-best among the field and the team's three eagles were tied for second-most.
Choi tied for eighth place after firing a three-under 69 on Monday. She finished with a score of 209 (-7), just one stroke shy of tying her lowest career 54-hole score of 208. This is the second time Choi has carded a round in the 60s this season; she opened the fall season firing a 69 at the Folds of Honor Collegiate. Choi birdied 15 holes over three rounds of play, which was tied for third-most birdies among the field of 68 players. She had five birdies on Monday.
Nellie Ong shot 71 (-1) in round three and finished the tournament tied for 12th with a 54-hole score of 211 (-5). Ong shot under par in all three rounds. Ong's 37 pars were tied for fourth-most among the field. She finished the tournament with 11 birdies.
After shaving six strokes off her second-round score of 75 to fire a four-under 68 on Monday, Hollenbaugh jumped 13 spots up the leaderboard to finish tied for 22nd place. She had a total score of 215 (-1). Hollenbaugh had three birdies and recorded her first eagle of the season on the 17th hole. Over three rounds, she had nine birdies.
Kavya Ajjarapu tied for 27th place with a 54-hole score of 216 (E). She carded a 71 (-1) in round three, tying her career low. Ajjarapu birdied five holes during Monday's round and totaled a career-best 13 birdies over 54 holes.
Marina Joyce-Moreno fired a career-best 70 (-2) on Monday, improving on her second-round score of 76 by six strokes. She moved six spots up the leaderboard, tying for 32nd place with a three-round total of 218 (+2). Joyce-Moreno shot her first career eagle on Monday, needing just three strokes on hole five. She carded nine birdies over three rounds of play.
Mandy Song competed as an individual. She shot a 76 (+4) in round three, finishing the tournament tied for 49th with a score of 226 (+10).
The Buckeyes are back in action Feb. 2-4 when they host the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
