
Women's Golf Wraps Up Fall Season at Jim West Challenge

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's golf closes out its fall season at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas Sunday, Oct. 20-Monday, Oct. 21.

- The tournament will be held at Kissing Tree Golf Club, a 6,123-yard par 72. Teams will play two rounds on Sunday and the final round on Monday, with a 9:30 a.m. ET shotgun start each day.
- ESPN+ will provide live coverage of the tournament. Coverage will begin at 11:00 a.m. ET on Sunday and at 9:30 a.m. ET on Monday.
- Live scoring will provided by Scoreboard Powered by Clippd.
- In addition to the Buckeyes and host Texas State, the other participating teams are New Mexico, UNLV, North Texas, Texas Tech, Northern Illinois, Texas- San Antonio, Oklahoma, Houston, TCU and Nebraska.
- The Buckeye lineup for the Jim West Challenge is Kary Hollenbaugh, Nellie Ong, Faith Choi, Marina Joyce-Moreno and Kavya Ajjarapu. Mandy Song will compete as an individual. Joyce-Moreno will carry the Folds of Honor bag.
- Ohio State last competed at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup, which they hosted at Muirfield Village. The event was a men's and women's match play event, which also featured Charlotte, Clemson and Florida.
- The Buckeyes went 2-1, earning wins against Florida (3.5-2.5) and Charlotte (4-2) and falling to Clemson (4-2).
- Hollenbaugh tied two of her matches at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup and won her match against Charlotte, 1UP. She is second the team in stroke average with a 74.66 per 18 holes. She is also second on the team in birdies with 16 during stroke play events.
- Ong was the lone Buckeye to win all three of her matches at Muirfield Village. She defeated her opponents from Florida and Charlotte, 4&2, and won 5&4 against her opponent from Clemson. She is averaging a score of 75.66 and has birdied 11 holes through the two stroke play events she has competed in.
- Choi went 1-1-1 at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup. Her win came against Florida, 4&2, and she tied her opponent from Clemson. She leads the Buckeyes this season with a 74.5 stroke average and will 18 birdies.
- Joyce-Moreno picked up two victories at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup, defeating her opponents from Florida (1UP) and Charlotte (4&2). She is third on the team in stroke average with a 75.16. She has 14 birdies through two stroke play events.
- Ajjarapu went 0-3 at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup. This will be her first stroke play event of the season.
- Song won her first two matches of the Barbara Nicklaus Cup, defeating her opponent from Florida, 5&4, and her opponent from Charlotte, 7&5. She has a stroke average of 80 and has 10 birdies.
- The Buckeyes are once again participating in the Folds of Honor program, each year carrying a bag bearing the name of a fallen service member or first responder. This season, the Buckeye women and men will both honor Technical Sergeant Anthony Campbell. TSgt. Campbell served with the Air Force's 932nd Civil Engineer Squadron as an explosive ordnance disposal technician. He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in late 2009, and was forward deployed to Afghanistan. During his deployment, he assisted in recovering over 280 pieces of ordnance and bulk explosive charges, disposing of over one ton of explosives used in IEDs. In December 2009, Campbell lost his life on an overnight mission with his team where he identified an IED. He selflessly moved his team out of danger, placing himself between them and the IED before it detonated. Founded in 2007, the mission of Folds of Honor is to provide educational scholarships to the spouses and children of America's fallen or disabled service members and first responders. Since its inception, over 44,000 scholarships have been awarded.
- The Buckeyes begin their spring season when they host the Therese Hession Regional Challenge Feb. 2-4 at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
