
No. 3 Ohio State Hits the Road for Two Big Ten Matchups

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After back-to-back wins at home, the No. 3-ranked Ohio State field hockey team is on the road again this weekend. Friday, they'll travel to College Park to face No. 8 Maryland (8-3, 4-1) at 5 p.m. and then head northeast to New Jersey to take on Rutgers (4-7, 1-4) on Sunday at 12 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on B1G+ and information on live stats can be found on the schedule page of OhioStateBuckeyes.com.

Briefly on the Buckeyes
- The Buckeyes are hot off an undefeated weekend, completing two shutouts against No. 17 Penn State and Kent State at home. Ohio State combined for seven goals in the wins and only allowed 12 shots by its opponents.
- The scarlet and gray didn't allow a single penalty corner by the Golden Flashes on Sunday. The Buckeyes have out-cornered their opponents 90-46 this season.
- With last weekend's wins, the Buckeyes move to six shutouts on the year, which already tops last season's total of five. The Ohio State offense has notched 23 goals in those wins.
- Ohio State sits at third in the NFHCA Poll, joining five other Big Ten teams: No. 2 Northwestern, No. 7 Michigan, No. 8 Maryland, No. 16 Penn State and No. 17 Iowa.
- Totaling 44 goals on the year, Ohio State comes in at second in the Big Ten and fifth nationally for total goals. The Buckeyes have out-scored their opponents 44-9 on the year.

Scouting Maryland
- The Terrapins sit at 8-3 on the season and 4-1 in the Big Ten, good enough for third place in the Big Ten.
- Maryland is coming off three consecutive Big Ten wins against Indiana, Iowa and Michigan State. The Terrapins outscored its opponents 11-1 in those wins.
- A win on Friday would be the first time the Buckeyes have topped Maryland in series history. Ohio State is 0-20 against the Terrapins with last season's meeting being a 2-1 Buckeye loss at home.
- The 2024 squad leads the Big Ten in shots on goal percentage (.629). The Buckeyes are right behind in second place (.617).
- Maryland has been ranked in the top 10 of the NFHCA poll every week this season. It currently sits at No. 8.
- Forwards Hope Rose and Ella Gaitan—a freshman—lead the Terrapins in points with 11 apiece. Gaitan has totaled four goals Maryland's last two games.

- Senior midfielder Guillermina Causarano totals nine assists on the year, good enough to tie for first in the Big Ten. Ohio State's Webster and Michigan's Abby Tamer also lead the league.
- Goaltender Sophia Howard won DPOTW honors for both the Big Ten and the NCAA on October 2 after notching six saves in the Scarlet Knights' penalty shootout victory over then No. 7 Iowa. The senior totals 223 saves in her career.
- Two Scarlet Knights are in double-figures for points: Causarano (21) and senior Paulina Niklaus (15). The duo account for 12 goals on the season.
- Riley Hudson is the only Buckeye on this year's roster from New Jersey (Medford).
