COLUMBUS, Ohio – It took just one meet for freshman Ohio State gymnast Courtney McCann to put her name in the record book as she scored a program record tying 9.975 on beam Sunday afternoon at the Covelli Center. to help the No. 9 Buckeyes start their 2024 home schedule off with a win. The team earned a score of 197.150 to win the tri-meet against No. 25 Ball State (195.650) and Towson (195.225).Â

McCann made her collegiate debut Sunday and, after an exhibition routine on vault, was the sixth and final gymnast in the Buckeyes' beam lineup.

"Before I mounted the beam, I was just thinking of what I've done in practice for these past five months and trusting myself once I got up there, and that's what I did," McCann said. "Once I hit my first skill, I was relieved because that's the biggest skill in my routine and I knew I could do a perfect routine from there. Then, once I stuck my landing, all the emotions hit."

In addition to McCann's beam accomplishment, the Buckeyes earned their eighth-best overall score in program history. Overall, Ohio State won three individual event titles and two overall event titles.

Vault
Nicole Riccardi earned a career-high 9.900 to lead Ohio State in the first rotation. Harris (9.875) and Vetter (9.850) tied their scores from last week's meet to take second and third on the team. Ohio State also counted a 9.775 from Sidney Washington and a 9.750 from Kaylyn Mintz. Riccardi's 9.900 is a team best on vault this season. Ohio State finished the rotation with a 49.150.

Uneven Bars
Harris led the team for the second straight week with a 9.875 on bars. Riccardi and Washington tied with a 9.825. Washington's score is a .050 improvement from her Buckeye debut against LSU. The Buckeyes also counted routines from Vetter (9.775) and Emma Pritchard (9.700) to earn a 49.000 on the event.

Beam
McCann, who closed out Ohio State's beam rotation, earned the beam title with her 9.975. The Buckeyes were the next four highest scorers, with Vetter, Harris and Hodges all scoring 9.875s. Emma Prichard rounded out the scoring with a 9.825. The team earned a meet and season best 49.425 on the apparatus.

Floor
The Buckeyes closed out the meet with its strongest event of the day, scoring a 49.575 on floor. Four Buckeyes earned marks of 9.900 or higher as Ella Hodges earned her second consecutive floor title with a career-high tying 9.950, which she also scored last meet. Vetter and Mintz tied for second overall with career-highs of 9.925. Harris added a 9.900 to give the Buckeyes a season-high event score and the overall event title.

Harris won her first all-around title of the season with a 39.525 on Sunday. Vetter came in second overall with a career-high 39.425.
