COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9 Ohio State women's gymnastics team hosts No. 14 Michigan Sunday, Jan. 21 at the Covelli Center in the first conference meet of the 2024 season. The meet between the Buckeyes (2-1) and Wolverines (1-3) starts at 2 p.m. and will be streamed on B1G+ (subscription required).

Buckeyes in a Nutshell
- The Buckeyes earned their first win of the 2024 season last week, defeating Ball State and Towson at the Covelli Center. The team earned a score of 197.150, the eighth-best score in program history.
- Five Ohio State gymnasts with at least one season of collegiate experience have recorded career-high scores after just two meets this year. Kaylyn Mintz and Tory Vetter each earned career highs on floor in the Buckeyes' last meet and Vetter added a career best all-around score of 39.425. Nicole Riccardi tied her career high with a 9.900 on vault in the home opener and Ella Hodges tied her career high on floor, scoring a 9.950 for the second straight meet. Kaitlyn Grimes scored a 9.800 in the first meet of the season to match her career best.
- Courtney McCann earned the Big Ten Freshman of the Week title after earning a 9.975 in her first competitive beam routine of her career. The score is an Ohio State program record on beam and ties for the best in the country this season.
- Ohio State ranks ninth in the Road to Nationals standings for the second straight week. The team is averaging a score of 196.963 in 2024. The Buckeyes lead the Big Ten with an average score of 49.438 on floor, 49.238 on beam and 49.225 on vault.
- Four Buckeyes rank in the top-20 nationally on their respective events. In addition to McCann's top-ranked beam score, Hodges is also tied for first in the country with a 9.950 average on floor. Riccardi is tied for 16th on bars while Payton Harris is tied for 20th.
- Sunday marks the Buckeyes' first Big Ten Conference meet of the season. Ohio State finished the 2023 conference slate fourth in the regular season with a 6-3-0 record. The team was voted third in the 2024 Big Ten preseason coaches' poll.
- The Buckeyes have won their last 12 regular season meets in Covelli.
- Ohio State and Michigan have met 43 times prior to Sunday's meet in Columbus. The Buckeyes have won 14 of those matchups.
- The teams' last regular season meeting was in 2022, with Michigan taking the victory in Ann Arbor. In the meet, Payton Harris led the team on beam and earned a then-career high all-around score for the Buckeyes.
- This weekend's conference opener is the first time Ohio State will host Michigan for a dual meet in Columbus since 2013. The Wolverines visited Covelli in 2022 for the Big Ten Championship meet and in 2021 for a tri meet.Â
