
Buckeyes Fall to Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team (22-23) fell to Wright State (26-18), 3-1, in the teams’ first meeting at Nischwitz Stadium since 1995.
Game Recap
- Henry Kaczmar recorded the first hit of the game for the Buckeyes with a lead-off single in the top of the third inning.
- The Raiders took a 1-0 lead over the Buckeyes in the bottom of the third.
- Marcus Ernst drew a walk in the top of the fourth. A single from Matthew Graveline advanced Ernst to third to put runners on the corners. A blooper to shallow left center from Mitchell Okuley sent Ernst home and tied the score, 1-1.
- Trey Lipsey hit a two-out single in the top of the fifth and Kade Kern was hit by a pitch to get on base, but both were stranded.
- Wright State reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fifth, 3-1.
- In the top of the sixth, Okuley was walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch, but there was nothing else doing for the Buckeyes in the remainder of the inning.
- Graveline picked up his second single of the game in the top of the eighth frame.
- The Buckeyes were retired in order in the ninth and the Raiders earned the win to sweep the season series.
Buckeyes by the Numbers
- Graveline led the Buckeyes with two hits.
- Lipsey, Okuley and Kaczmar each had one hit and Okuley had the lone RBI of the day for Ohio State.
- Jaylen Jones started on the mound. He struck out two and gave up one run on one hit in a 2.1-inning no-decision.
- Jacob Gehring (0-3) took the loss on the mound. He struck out two and allowed two runs on one hit in 2.1 innings pitched.
