No. 11 Ohio State on to National Indoors with 4-0 Win over No. 20 Tennessee

COLUMBUS, Ohio – With a 4-0 win over No. 20 Tennessee Sunday in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center, the No. 11 Ohio State women's tennis team advanced to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship. The Buckeyes were 2-0 at home on ITA Kickoff Weekend, with a 4-1 win over No. 24 Oklahoma State Saturday and Sunday's victory over the Lady Vols.
Ohio State (2-2) will be making its sixth trip to national indoors in the last seven years, including its fourth consecutive, and its seventh trip overall. This was the fifth time Ohio State hosted Kickoff Weekend matches. The 2022 ITA National Team Indoor Championship will be held in Madison, Wis., Feb. 11-14.
Against Tennessee, the Buckeyes swept the doubles matches for a 1-0 lead and then had 6-3, 6-3 wins on the top three courts from Sydni Ratliff, Irina Cantos and Isabelle Boulais.

"Today was a really solid match. We came out strong in doubles and were able to keep the momentum going in singles. I think we are getting better with matches and I am really proud of our team. We are excited to have the opportunity to go to National Indoors!"
In Doubles
- The Buckeyes swept the doubles matches, with the final two ending nearly simultaneously 7-5 in favor of Ohio State.
- The duo of Isabelle Boulais and Kolie Allen notched the first win, claiming five of the final six games for a 6-3 victory over Rebeka Mertena and Elza Tomase on court two.
- On court one, Buckeyes Irina Cantos Siemers and Sydni Ratliff rallied to defeat Tenika McGiffin and Daria Kuczer. The Buckeyes were down 1-4 to start the match. The closed the gap to 3-4. After the Lady Vols held for a 5-3 advantage, Ohio State won the final four games, breaking to win 7-5.
- The Ohio State tandem of Lucia Marzal and Luna Dormet had an early break against Esther Adeshina and Eleonora Molinaro. The teams evened at 3-all before the Buckeyes pushed ahead 5-3, but Tennessee answered, breaking for a 5-all match. Ohio State broke on the next game and then held for the 7-5 victory.
- Ohio State won the doubles point in both matches this weekend.
In Singles
- Freshman Sydni Ratliff picked up her second straight-set win of the weekend and third straight victory, as the No. 123-ranked Buckeye topped No. 56 Elza Tomase, 6-3, 6-3, on court three. Ratliff broke on the no-ad point for the victory.
- 6-ranked Irina Cantos put the Buckeyes up 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 41 Tenika McGiffin on court one, breaking for the final point.
- On court two, Isabelle Boulais picked up her third Top 30 win of the dual season, as she defeated No. 14 Rebeka Mertena, 6-3, 6-3, to clinch the Buckeye victory. She is 4-0 this spring.
- Kolie Allen, Lucia Marzal and Luna Dormet all had their matches unfinished after the Buckeye team clinch.
