
Buckeyes Set for ITA Midwest Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Members of the Ohio State women's tennis team are in Urbana, Ill., for the ITA Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Illinois. Singles prequalifying is Thursday, with main draw singles Friday through Monday.

The regional singles finalists and doubles champion will earn berths into this fall's NCAA Championships.

Ohio State freshman Anna Bennett is the No. 1 seed in the prequalifying draw, while the Buckeyes who are already in the main draw are No. 7 seed Audrey Spencer, Alessia Cau, Flora Johnson, Hephzibah Oluwadare and Lucy Oyebog. In doubles, Johnson and Oluwadare are the No. 3 seed, Spencer and Bennett are a No. 9-16 seed, joined by Cau and Oyebog in the main draw.

Ohio State History at the ITA Regionals
The Buckeyes claimed the last two regional singles titles, with Luciana Perry winning the program's first in 2024 and Nao Nishino following as the champion last year. Ohio State has captured two regional doubles titles – Miho Kowase and Anna Sanford won in 2016 and Irina Cantos Siemers and Sydni Ratliff were the 2021 champions.

Nov. 5-8 will be two more chances for players to earn NCAA berths, with the ITA Central Sectional Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, and the ITA Conference Masters Championships in Rome, Ga.

The NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships are slated for Nov. 17-22 in Athens, Ga. Buckeyes Luciana Perry, Nao Nishino and Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev are in the singles draw after reaching at least the quarterfinals at ITA All-Americans and Perry and Floran Johnson will be in the doubles tournament as finalists at All-Americans.
