
Ohio State Competing at Fighting Illini B1G Relays

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State middle distance and distance runners, along with a bevy of throwers, are in Champaign, Ill., this weekend competing at the Fighting Illini Big Ten Relays. The competition, hosted by the University of Illinois, is being held at Illinois' brand new Demirjian Park.
As she has done all spring, graduate student Sade Olatoye led the way for Ohio State, winning the hammer with toss of 65.95m / 216-5 for her fourth victory this year in the event with no setbacks. She also competed in the discus and placed fifth.
Joining Olatoye with podium finishes were: Divine Oladipo, second in the shot (52.43/172-0), Adelaide Aquilla, third in the discus (52.40/171.11), Nick Regas, third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:17.11; Frank Hayes (1:50.81) and Ivan Slyepkan, second and third in the 800 meters; and Aziza Ayoub, third in the 800 with a team season-best time of 2:07.74;
Regas' 9:17.11 was the first personal-best time of the day by a Buckeye and 13 others also enjoyed highlight moments with their best-ever times:
- Slyepkan's 1:50.83 800 and 3:58.06 in the 1,500;
- Michael Huber's 1:53.92 800;
- Suzie Muller's 2:17.48 800;
- Tom Sullivan's 3:51.96 in the 1,500;
- Adelaide Aquilla's 52.40/171-11 throw in the discus;
- Addie Engel (4:31.54), Daniella Santos (4:36.54) and Alex Buck (4:43.71) in the 1,500 meters;
- Tevin Brown (14:27.10), Jack Good (14:33.97) and Peter Hayden (14:39.73) in the 5,000 meters; and
- Andrea Kuhn (16:31.04) and Hannah Moulton (16:41.03) in the 5,000 meters.
The relays continue on Saturday. Ohio State is scheduled to race in seven relays plus a couple of the throwers are schedule to compete.
