
Buckeyes Look to Build at Meyo Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s and women’s track and field program will travel to Notre Dame, In. to compete in the Meyo Invitational this Friday, Feb.7 and Saturday, Feb. 8. Over 20 programs will be in attendance to challenge Buckeyes, including Big Ten foes Michigan and Michigan State. Friday’s competition will open with women’s weight long jump at 4:00 p.m. ET. Running events will start at 4:30 p.m. with the women’s 60-meter hurdles prelims.

Both Ohio State track programs competed in the 2020 Texas Tech Invitational in Lubbock, Texas this past weekend.
The women finished the highly competitive meet with six top eight finishes and a new school record. Junior Anavia Battle secured the 200-meter dash title with a time of 22.86. Her championship time puts her at No. 1 in the nation this season. This time last year, Battle secured the No. 1 spot in the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 22.80.
Alexus Pyles started off the Texas Tech Invite with a bang as she broke her own school record of 3993 points. Her 4040 point-finish lands her at No. 2 in the nation. Emma Nwofor, during her second meet as a Buckeye, placed fourth in the pentathlon. She was able to accumulate 3950 points to take fourth and No. four in the nation. Annie Ubbing placed fifth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:32.03. Aziza Ayoub placed eighth with a career-best time of 1:32.69.The 4×400-meter relay team placed eighth in the event with a time of 3:42.10. The team included Alyssa Marsh, Jayden Wood, Aziza Ayoub and Tamani Wilson.
The men registered five top-eight finishes during the Texas Tech Invite. Freshman jumper Shaun Miller Jr. took second in the men’s high jump. Miller cleared a career-best height of 2.09-meters. Freshman Clarence Foote-Talley placed sixth in the men’s triple jump with a distance of 15.81-meters. RJ Russell registered a third place finish in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:18.58. 400-meter specialist Tyler Johnson came in fifth with a time of 46.84. Donnie James came in fourth in the men’s 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 21.14.The men’s 4×400-meter relay team was able to place eight with a combined time of 3:10.54. The relay team included Asa Burke, Donnie James, Evan Matthews and Tyler Johnson.
