COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s gymnastics freshman Justin Ah Chow was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week following his college debut against Oklahoma and Arizona State, Big Ten officials announced Tuesday.
Last Saturday Ah Chow competed for his first time as a Buckeye in a tri-meet in which Ohio State hosted Oklahoma and Arizona State in the new Covelli Center. The Buckeyes placed second in all six events on their way to a second-place finish. Oklahoma won the meet with a 412.200 followed by Ohio State at 397.600 and Arizona State at 380.700.
Ah Chow competed in four out of six events, placing second on parallel bars (13.900), sixth on pommel horse (12.900), sixth on vault (14.250) and tied for seventh on high bar (13.150).
The Buckeyes will compete in their first away meet of the season as they travel to Penn State this Saturday, Jan. 25. The competition is set to begin at 8 p.m.
