Big Ten Athlete Of the Week
Ohio-native Sade Olatoye has accomplished a lot this season, and she received the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth-consecutive week. Her performance at last weekend’s meet, held at Clemson, put her back on top of the women’s weight throw competition this season and No. 3 in shot put. Not to mention, she is now the Tiger Paw Invitational record holder for the event as well. Olatoye’s 23.51m throw was not only the best in the nation, but the best in Ohio State history.
A Look Back
The Buckeyes traveled to Clemson University to compete in the Tiger Paw Invitational last weekend, and they held their own among the top-ranked teams in the country, taking home seven gold medals. Additionally, two more school records fell as Nick Gray and Abby Nichols made Buckeye history in their events.
Julia Rizk gave Ohio State their first medal by completing the Mile Run with a new personal record time of 4:42.10s to claim gold.
The team of Lomong, Fajardo, Hayes, and Bauers claimed victory in the Men’s 4000m Distance Medley to finish the day on Friday.
On Saturday, the Buckeyes were excellent in the 200m Dash, as Nick Gray took third with a 20.82s sprint. Gray also registered a 6.61s 60m dash time, which was a new school record for Ohio State. That time also moved Gray up to the No. 10 ranking in that event.
Last but certainly not least, Abby Nichols competed at the GVSU Big Meet, and recorded the best 5000m Run in Buckeye history. Her time of 16:14.00s is in the record books.
