Buckeyes Take the Win in Season Opener

NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Ohio State Pistol team traveled to Coast Guard this weekend for their first match of the season. The Buckeyes took the win against the defending National Champions in Open with a score of 6,525 to Coast Guard’s 6,495 while the Women’s team scores weren’t tallied.
A couple of Buckeyes set new personal bests against Coast Guard. This includes Shrenik Jain (Standard Pistol; 561) and Bernard Melus (Air Pistol; 555).
In the first ever competition of men shooting Sport Pistol, Gens (Sport Pistol; 563) and Jain (3-Gun Aggregate; 1,666) set the bar in Ohio State’s Record Books. The Sport Pistol team of Robbie Delagrange, Gens, Cade Haiby and Jain carded a 2,219 and the 3-Gun Aggregate crew of Delagrange, Gens, Haiby, Jain and Bernard Melus came in at 6,525.
Additional notable highlights from this past weekend include Gens taking first place in Air Pistol, second place in Sport Pistol, and fifth place in Standard Pistol; good for third place in 3-Gun Aggregate with a score of 1,650. Jain took first in Standard Pistol, fourth in Sport Pistol, and fifth in Air Pistol for a sum of 1,666; earning second place in 3-Gun Aggregate.
The Buckeyes will take on Akron and Purdue this upcoming weekend, October 12-13, in their first home match of the season.
