COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sade Olatoye has been a force since she entered the collegiate level and in every competition since then. She holds both school records in shot put (17.34m) and weight throw (23.83m) for the women and has been a consistent scorer for the team as well.
This past weekend the Dublin, Ohio, native achieved every student-athletes goal of becoming champion and leading the nation. She won the women’s weight throw at the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge with a heave of 22.92 meters. This distance moved the senior thrower from No. 2 to No.1 in women’s DI competition. If her throw wasn’t enough, she now holds the meet record as well in the collegiate level of the annual Columbia Challenge.
Last week, she was named the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week in response to her victories in the women’s shot put (17.18m) and weight throw 22.03m. This was the fifth time Olatoye has been awarded this title in her career as a Buckeye.
