Ohio State at the Bearcat Invitational and Inverness Intercollegiate
- Ohio State heads down to Cincinnati for the Bearcat Invitational for just the third time where they look for redemption after a sixth place finish last season.
- Last season, Daniel Wetterich fired a first round 63 and a second round 71 to post a third place finish in front of his hometown crowd.
- Will Grimmer also showed up well, adding an 11th place finish to his resume after rounds of 71 and 68 at Coldstream Country Club.
- The Buckeyes will make their sixth appearance at the Inverness Intercollegiate, but will have a different look this year as they are only sending three individuals.
- Wetterich turned in another top-5 finish at the Inverness after tying for fourth with 68 and 69 in the two rounds of play.
The Courses
- Coldstream Country Club is one of Cincinnati’s premier private clubs situated on 190 idyllic acres, featuring an elite, championship 18-hole golf course. It has served as the backdrop to numerous Ohio amateur and open championships as well as USGA qualifiers.
- The Inverness Club was founded in 1903 and along with the University of Toledo served as host for the 2009 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships. Inverness will host the 2019 U.S. Junior Amateur and the 2021 Solheim Cup and has also hosted four U.S. Opens, two U.S. Senior Opens, two PGA Championships and one U.S. Amateur.
Buckeye Backdrop
- Ohio State opened the season last week at the Northern Intercollegiate Invitational and took home the fourth spot of the 14 team field.
- Grimmer showed up well in the opening event. After shooting an opening round 74, he carded back to back 71’s to bring his final score to even par, and a share of fourth place.
- Wetterich also had a good weekend, putting together three solid rounds, 70-75-72, to move up the leaderboard and settle in eighth place.
