
Kanney Moves Into No. 3 All-Time in Program History

Raleigh, N.C. – Sarah Kanney’s first-career 3,000m steeplechase in the Scarlet and Gray was a special one on Friday afternoon at the Dail Track Complex in Raleigh, N.C., at the Raleigh Relays. Kanney crossed the finish line with a time of 10:30.62 to place fifth in a field of 37 athletes; the time is the third-fastest ever in program history.
In the men’s 3,000m steeplechase, Patrick Kunkel had a strong showing with a nine-second personal record (9:10.62) to place fifth in the 24-athlete field. Lainey Studebaker made her track debut after a solid cross country season with a time of 17:06.06 personal best in the 5,000m run. In the men’s 1,500m run, freshman Alex Lomong placed 25th in a field 103 runners with a personal-best time of 3:50.87.
Four other Buckeyes registered personal bests in their events on Friday: Clayton Bowie (3,000m steeplechase – 9:58.61), Mitch Leitch (10,000m run – 30:20.13), Emily Stoodley (10,000m run – 34:53.30) and Jessica Passwater (5,000m run). Stoodley’s mark is an NCAA East Preliminary qualifying mark.
UP NEXT
The Buckeyes will head south to compete at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., next Friday and Saturday (March 31-April 1).
