Ohio State carded a 54-hole total of 861 (+1). The Jayhawks of Kansas matched that ledger, but the Buckeyes were awarded runner-up distinction on tiebreaker criteria.
Eight of the 10 teams Ohio State bested hail from ‘power 5’ conferences, including Big Ten foes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska and event host Wisconsin.
Five of six OSU players either remained steady or improved their score in each subsequent round. Jaclyn Lee, Jessica Porvasnik and Niki Schroeder were all three-time contributors to the team score. Katja Pogacar and Zoe-Beth combined for three team tally entries.
Lee and Porvasnik concluded the competition at 1-under, both registering Top-10 appearances coming in among a tie for 10th place (215; -1). Lee rattled off rounds of 74-71-70 to earn her fifth career Top-10 while Porvasnik’s scoring line of 73-71-71 notched the 16th Top-10 of her impressive career.
Schroeder and Rio Watanabe added Top-25’s to their career resumes, completing the event with shares of 19th and 23rd place, respectively. Schroeder rebounded well from an opening round 75, shooting par in the second and 2-under on the final day for an overall total of 217 (+1) Watanabe began by posting back-to-back 74’s and wrapped it up with a 71 in her final trek around the course (219; +3).
Much like Schroeder, Pogacar made amends for a slow start (76 in Round One) by making moves in the next two rounds. Pogacar responded with tallies of 73-72 to jump into the top-half of the 76-player field, tied for 31st overall. Zoe-Beth Brake went the opposite direction, posting her best score (73) in the first round. Overall, Brake ranked T-47th at 9-over (225).
