Buckeyes Hold Onto Lead After Second Round of NCAA Ann Arbor Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State continues to lead the field after 36 holes at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional. The Buckeyes own a 12-stroke advantage over sixth-place UCF as they look to secure one of five qualifying spots for the NCAA Championship.
The Buckeyes finished round one tied atop the leaderboard with Northwestern after posting an impressive team score of 279 (-5). Ohio State followed that performance with a second-round score of 290 (+6), breaking the tie and moving into sole possession of first place at one-over-par overall through 36 holes.
Freshman Matilde Santilli continued to lead the way for the Buckeyes, carding an impressive 68 (-1) in the opening round before following it with an even-par 71 in round two. Santilli has totaled eight birdies through two rounds and currently sits tied for second place individually. Fellow freshman Sophie Eppelstun also contributed a strong second-round performance, posting a 72 (+1) to bolster Ohio State's team score. She sits tied for 11th place heading into round three.
Sophomore Nellie Ong recorded a 73 (+2) in round two, highlighted by back-to-back birdies on holes eight and nine, and currently sits in a tie for 23rd place individually. Marina Joyce-Moreno carded a 74 (+3), placing her tied for 11th overall, while fellow sophomore Mandy Song finished the day with a 76 (+5) and sits in 30th place heading into the final round.
The Buckeyes look to continue to earn their NCAA Championship spot in the third and final round on Wednesday, May 13 with another 8:00 a.m. tournament start time.
