Buckeyes Punch Ticket to NCAA Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Buckeyes punched their ticket to the NCAA Championship for the second consecutive season with a second-place finish at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional.
Last season marked Ohio State’s return to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2018. Now, the Buckeyes are headed back again, securing consecutive appearances for the first time since the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
The Buckeyes carded a final-round score of 289 (+5) to finish in the top five on the leaderboard and advance to the NCAA Championships. Ohio State opened the tournament with an impressive 279 (-5) in round one before following it up with a second-round score of 290 (+6).
The Buckeyes’ final round was highlighted by 11 birdies, four of which came from sophomore Marina Joyce-Moreno, including back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11. Additionally, fellow sophomore Nellie Ong recorded an eagle on the par-5 11th hole.
Freshman Sophie Eppelstun led the charge in the final round, shooting an even-par 71 to finish the tournament at one-over-par and tied for eighth individually. Ong followed with a 72 (+1), placing her 18th overall.
Freshman Matilde Santilli finished with a final-round score of 73 (+2) to secure a sixth-place finish overall, the highest individual finish for the Buckeyes. Joyce-Moreno also carded a 73 (+2), finishing tied for 15th individually. Sophomore Mandy Song shot an 83 (+12) and finished in 47th place.
The NCAA Championships take place May 22-27 in Carlsbad, California at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
