
Buckeyes in the Lead After First Round of NCAA Ann Arbor Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes lead the field after round one of the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional, with four Buckeyes finishing the round at even par or better.
Ohio State sits atop the leaderboard at the conclusion of the opening round of the tournament, tied with Northwestern Wildcats women's golf after carding an impressive team score of 279 (-5). The Buckeyes were one of just three teams in the field to finish under par through 18 holes and hold a three-stroke advantage over USC Trojans women's golf heading into round two. Ohio State also led the field with sixteen total birdies on the day, thirteen of which came on the back nine.
Freshman Matilde Santilli led the charge with a 68 (-3), tying her career-low round. She recorded four birdies on the day and currently sits tied for 3rd individually. Close behind her was sophomore Marina-Joyce Moreno, who carded a 69 (-2), her lowest round of the season by two strokes while also matching her career low. Joyce-Moreno tallied three birdies, all coming on the back nine, and is tied for 6th individually entering round two.
Sophie Eppelstun and Mandy Song both finished the opening round at even par and are tied for 16th place individually. The duo combined for six birdies to contribute to Ohio State's strong team performance. Nellie Ong rounded out the Buckeye lineup with a 72 (+1) and currently sits tied for 22nd on the individual leaderboard.
The Buckeyes are back on the course for round two on Tuesday, May 12, with another 8:00 a.m. tournament start time.
