CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 23 Ohio State University women’s golf team finished ahead of two Top-15 foes by placing seventh out of 17 teams in an elite field gathered for the Tar Heel Invitational. A Buckeye trio of Jessica Porvasnik, Niki Schroeder and Katja Pogacar led the charge, each recording Top-25 individual finishes and contributing to the team tally in all four rounds.
Ohio State put itself in title contention through 36 holes, a lone shot off the pace, before slipping a bit in the final round with a 16-over 304. The three-day Buckeye total of 874 was good for seventh place, ahead of No. 12 North Carolina (884), No. 13 Duke (886) and 10 other schools.
Porvasnik notched her third Top-25 standing in as many events this season, pacing all Buckeyes for the third time as well. She earned a share of 13th in the 96-player field, carding an even-par 216 for the 28th Top-25 of her career. Fellow northeast Ohioan Schroeder showed up next for the Scarlet & Gray, tying for 17th at 2-over (218). It marks Schroeder’s second Top-25 as a sophomore and sixth in her career.
Pogacar registered her 26th career Top-25, coming in at T-22nd on a 4-over 220. Jaclyn Lee just missed out on the Top-25, but did leave Chapel Hill in the upper third of the field. She tied for 28th overall after shooting 221 (+5).
