Play Continues in Florida and Texas – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team continued play at tournaments in Coral Gables, Fla., and Waco, Texas, Saturday. Competition at both events wraps up Sunday.
At the Miami Fall Invite, junior Miho Kowase and Gabriella De Santis each advanced to the semifinals of their respective brackets with wins Saturday morning. In the orange draw, No. 117-ranked De Santis topped No. 73 Wendy Zhang of the host Hurricanes, rallying after dropping the first set. De Santis then lost to No. 47-ranked Pleun Burgmans of Auburn in the semifinals. In the green draw, Kowase beat Pitt’s Amber Washington in straight sets in the quarterfinal before losing in three sets to Georgia Tech’s Alexis Prokupuik in the semis. The Buckeye tandem suffered a loss in consolation doubles.
At Baylor’s Under Armour H-E-B Invite, a hidden dual tournament, Anna Sanford picked up a singles win for the Buckeyes, beating Newborn of Baylor in straight sets. Redshirt senior Nicole Flower and freshman Andrea Ballinger posted a win in doubles.
