Ohio State Runs at the Commodore Classic Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State cross country teams return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tenn.
A total of 23 schools – including Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss (No. 15, M), Michigan (No. 12, W), Tennessee and the Buckeyes – are scheduled to compete on the women’s side, with 21 teams set to battle in the men’s race.
The men’s 8k race is scheduled for 9 a.m. CT, while the women’s 5k begins at 10 a.m. CT. A complete recap will be available after the race at www.OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
Buckeyes in the Great Lakes Regional Rankings
The Buckeye women are ranked fifth and the men 10th in the Great Lakes regional rankings by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), released Sept. 14.
Defending national champion and fourth-ranked Michigan State is ranked No. 1 in the region on the women’s side. No. 10 Wisconsin is second, followed by No. 12 Michigan, No. 20 Notre Dame and Ohio State.
On the men’s side, fourth-ranked Wisconsin is the top team in the region, followed by No. 10 Indiana, No. 11 Michigan, No. 28 Michigan State and Eastern Michigan.

Ohio State opened its 2015 season at the Dayton Flyer 5k Challenge in Kettering, Ohio, Sept. 5.
Placing seven runners in the Top 10, the Buckeye women won the event for the fourth year in a row with a team score of 25. Senior Minori Minagawa led the Buckeyes with a third-place finish in a time of 18:30.5, followed by freshman Lilly Saniel-Banrey (fourth, 18:40.1), senior Andrea McArdle (fifth, 18:43.0), freshman Emily Stoodley (sixth, 18:47.0) and senior Sakiko Minagawa (seventh, 18:51.4).
Freshman Clayton Bowie won the individual title on the men’s side in a course-record time of 15:34.0 as the Buckeyes tied for second overall with a score of 43. Three Buckeyes joined Bowie in the Top 10: freshman Luke Landis (fifth, 15:49.1), junior Patrick Kunkel (sixth, 15:52.5) and freshman Nick Jarrell (10th, 16:03.8). Senior Steven Weaver completed the scoring with a 21st-place finish in a time of 16:22.4.

On Oct. 2, the men’s team travels to Cedarville, Ohio, for the All-Ohio championships. The following day, Oct. 3, the Buckeye women compete at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky.
