Men’s and Women’s Squads Receive USTFCCCA Academic Awards

Castelli named an All-Academic Athlete
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's and men's cross country programs have been recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced. Katie Castelli, an All-Great Lakes Region honoree, received USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete accolades.
To qualify for team All-Academic distinction, squads must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. For the individual award, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the Top 25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
The men combined for a 3.61 grade-point average and the women compiled a 3.37 gpa. This is the fifth straight award for both the men's and women's teams. It is the 14th all-time honor for the women and the men have earned the award 15 times.
Castelli, from Sioux Falls, S.D., finished 15th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships to earn her first all-region award. She raced in the final five team events in 2025 and was in the top two for the Buckeyes in all five outings. The Buckeyes' Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner, she is a graduate student in sport coaching at Ohio State after earning her bachelor's degree from Santa Clara in 2024. She earned Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and CSC Academic All-District honors in 2024-25 and was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team in the fall.
