NEWBURGH, Ind. – Following a frost delay to start the competition, Planet Earth continued to wreak havoc at the Big Ten Men’s Golf Championship as darkness doomed the completion of Round Two. With anywhere from 30-36 holes in the books for each student-athlete before play was called due to darkness, Ohio State is tied for third place in the team standings.
The Buckeyes are 1-under entering Day Two of the conference tournament, led by senior Boo Timko and his top-5 effort. The native Buckeye out of Girard, Ohio is 2-under entering Saturday and tied for fifth place on the individual leaderboard.
Logan Jones and Tee-k Kelly matched Timko’s 30 holes played and are both in a tie for 13th place at even par. Jones is 1-under through his first 12 holes of Round Two while Kelly was even in his first 18 and his next 12.
Grant Weaver contributed to the first round team tally as well, posting Ohio State’s best opening round score of 71 (-1). Through 30 holes though Weaver sits +2 and tied for 23rd overall. Clark Engle, with 27 complete holes to his name, went 6-over on the day and is amongst a group of golfers tied for 38th place.
