COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 17-ranked Ohio State men’s lacrosse team lost to No. 3-ranked Notre Dame, 9-0, Saturday at Arlotta Stadium in Notre Dame, Ind. The matchup vs. the Irish (5-1, 1-0 ACC) was the final nonconference matchup for the Buckeyes (7-3), as the squad will play its inaugural Big Ten game at 3 p.m. March 29 at Penn State.
“We are disappointed with the outcome today,” Nick Myers, Ohio State head coach, said. “We struggled to find any rhythm on offense. I am proud of our defensive effort and the way we hung in there. The bottom line is we need to execute better in every aspect to beat a team like Notre Dame. We will grow stronger from this and use it as fuel to head into our first Big Ten game.”
The Irish led 3-0 at halftime. Nick Ossello scored at 13:07 of the first quarter and Matt Kavanagh put ND ahead 2-0 at the 5:55 mark. Conor Doyle scored the only goal of the second quarter at 4:09, converting a man-up chance. Notre Dame outshot Ohio State 11-1 in the first quarter and 11-6 in the second quarter.
